The Boden Essential 6: A Tantalizing Opportunity

With their Boden Essential 6 electric guitar, Strandberg has raised the bar on pro-quality features, producing what Sweetwater players cite as the manufacturer’s most attainable axe ever. The major difference from other offerings? The Essential 6’s fingerboard opts for conventional fret placement while also helping new Strandberg players get to work without the learning curve of multi-scale frets. The Boden Essential 6 features a meranti body — a hard wood with a balanced, flexible sound that readily adapts to different playing styles, much like the basswood used in pricier models. The neck is made from ultra-stable roasted maple and inscribed with a game-changing ergonomic EndurNeck profile for energizing comfort and infinite range. Moreover, the Boden Essential 6 features OEM humbuckers made by Strandberg. These pickups are equally fit for low-gain applications as well as fully saturated sonic romps. Throw in a hard-working EGS Arc fixed bridge along with stainless steel frets, and the Strandberg Boden Essential 6 earns its spot in any discerning guitarist’s stable.

Supportive, blissfully carved tonewoods

Though Strandberg priced it to fit comfortably into the working musician’s budget, the Boden Essential 6 is equipped with quality tonewoods that capture what makes pricier Bodens such a hit. It all starts with a meranti body, a wood prized by many of today’s top manufacturers for its balanced sound and quality sustain. Move farther up this incredible instrument, and its roasted maple neck and rosewood fingerboard are sure to please. Sweetwater guitarists rank Strandberg necks and fingerboards as constant favorites, thanks to their silky-smooth feel and optimized ergonomics. Everything is constructed to Strandberg’s incredibly high and exacting standards, ensuring the Boden Essential 6 is a road- and studio-ready workhorse.

Original OEM humbuckers deliver wide-ranging tone

To give the Boden Essential 6 tone that’s authentically Strandberg, Strandberg naturally chose a pair of their in-house-designed OEM humbuckers. These pickups are constructed with the same care and accuracy as all Strandberg’s offerings, ensuring a top-quality tone in all settings. As for the sound? OEM humbuckers dish out everything from squeaky cleans to gut-punching grind and everything in between. The Boden Essential 6 is a solid go-to choice for genre hoppers or anyone in need of a dependable, high-performing machine.

Bought this guitar without ever seeing or playing a Strandberg in real life.

This is very beautiful guitar. It's construction is very high level. The neck looks so beautiful. The strings sit low and very even on the fretboard, its beautiful to look at. Roasted maple looks 100 better than rosewood any day.

Strings play very tight, but they have so much sustain, more than all my guitars.

In my life I started with a Ibanez RG, then a Fender Strat, a bunch of classical and acoustic guitars, then a Gibson semi-hollow jazz guitar.

I was interested in this brand and guitar because of the ergonomic intentionality of the guitar. I've noticed my body posture get messed up over many years of playing regular guitars that are heavy, take up a lot of space when you hold it, restricts your body movement. Using a guitar strap on regular guitars for so many practices and performances, it has messed up my body posture. I can feel my hip, torso, and shoulder alignment being out of line due to playing with regular guitars for so many hours over the years. I've played less guitar in the past several years and more piano because I can produce more music without strain on my body. Now with this guitar, I will probably play it more than most of my other guitars. I will probably only play my other guitars for their tone.

I am as excited about the ergonomic playability of this guitar and it's beautiful construction and attention to detail as I was when I first got my Gibson semi-hollow and started hearing the tones I got out of it.

This guitar is very beautiful to look at, every angle, everything about it looks and feels like very high quality.

As someone who's never played or seen a Strandberg in real life before -- I love the classical guitar stance of this guitar. The fretboard and my hands are at eye level so I don't have to hunch over and ruin my posture for a regular guitar stance.

I love the neck carving. I have to get used to the different hand positions it puts my left hand into, but I feel it actually forces me to have good left hand form and posture. The tightness of the strings also force me to have better picking technique.

This brand and guitar feels like it was built out of a lot of passion because it matches my passion for the guitar. I've played less guitar over the years due to normal guitars lack of ergonomic considerations.

I just received this guitar after pre-ordering it and I could not be happier. I really hope the integrity of this brand never gets compromised if it gets more popular.

Best regards to all guitar players.

They keep getting better.

With this being the third Strandberg* that I own now, don't let the lower price be in question. The quality is equally matched, if not honestly, better. The details in the roasted maple neck are beautiful and the black granite finish is super slick and eye-catching even for being a solid color. The updated hardware is just awesome. Something about the pickups this time around have a distinct voicing to them with so much clarity that allows for whatever you want to play. Highly recommended for people looking for a purchase around this price range.

Good Guitar, with QC issues.

Great setup right out of the box and extremely comfortable to play, however there was an issue with the bridge saddles causing notes to choke out with the slightest bend on the high e string above the 12th fret. This issue caused the need for sweetwater to perform a warranty fix on the guitar straight out of the box. I am unsure if this is a one off issue on this model since it is brand new, so buyer beware.

This thing sounds EXCELLENT. The OEM strandberg pickups to me sound similar to the Suhr pickups they've been putting in some of their models. Plenty of output for high gain stuff but very articulate and tight. Does cleans just as well!

This thing straight up does not go out of tune, almost EVER. You might have notes go slightly flat if you do a gigantic bend, but overall I haven't found it to be an issue.

Overall, my experience was mixed. This thing is now being appreciated and enjoyed, but out of the box it was a letdown. I hope this is not a widespread issue with this model!
