The Ideal Wireless Solution for Brass and Woodwinds

Delivering stellar sound quality and reliable wireless transmission up to 300 feet, the Samson AWX wireless system for wind instruments is a great way to perform. Simply clip the rugged microphone to your saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or another wind instrument, adjust the gooseneck to the optimum position, and you're set. The AWX wireless platform supports up to eight simultaneous systems, perfect for outfitting a complete horn section. And because the transmitter clips directly to your instrument, you won't have worry about wearing a beltpack transmitter. Wind players at Sweetwater agree: the Samson AWX wireless system is an outstanding solution for performing with freedom.

A premium microphone for brass and woodwinds

The Samson AWX wireless system comes with the HM60 condenser microphone, and we think you'll love what you hear. This mic features a flexible 8.5" gooseneck that makes it easier to place the mic head in the perfect position. And Samson's 3-point halo mounting system minimizes handling noise from your instrument.

No beltpack for comfortable performance

While most musicians appreciate the freedom that wireless mic systems provide, few appreciate having to wear a bodypack transmitter. Thankfully, the Samson AWX system's transmitter is integrated with the microphone, attaching directly to the bell of your instrument. Simply clip it on and you're ready to perform.

Rechargeable battery with long lifespan

The Samson AWX wireless system is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, so you'll never need to worry about keeping spare AA batteries around. And the AWX system offers up to eight hours of battery life on a single charge.

Samson AWX Wind Instrument Wireless System Features:

  • Wireless system for brass and woodwind instruments
  • Frequency-agile UHF wireless system with 80 operating channels and 24MHz bandwidth
  • Up to 8 systems can be used simultaneously (depending on region)
  • No beltpack required, transmitter clips directly to your instrument
  • HM60 condenser microphone with flexible gooseneck delivers exceptional sound quality
  • Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 8 hours of operation on a single charge
  • Impressive 300' operating range (with direct line of sight)

Worry-free Wireless!

We wanted you to know that all of the wireless systems you see here – and all of the wireless systems available at Sweetwater – are 100% compliant with the Federal Communication Commission's new rules governing wireless systems. You can be confident that these systems will work within the FCC's currently permitted frequency/power ranges. Please be aware that systems operating in the 617-652 MHz or 663-698 MHz range are now operating outside the FCC's new guidelines. What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Great bang for the buck

I bought this mic system as a back up to my SDS wireless ( GREAT MIC), when the the clip broke on the sds mic clamp. let me say this system... sounded almost as good as the sds. I would also say the receiver may even work better . And the service for this mic and the SDS system from the Sweetwater crew as been stellar . They are the only company i respect.

Excellent at this price point

It's hard to believe you can get a good quality wireless transmitter, receiver AND mic for this price point but you can. This thing sounds better than units that cost $1500 several years ago and as good as units priced at double its cost right now. For most applications, even large theater stages, I've found this thing to be rock-solid but it does come with a couple of design flaws:

First, the bell-mount clip has its transmitter and battery right in the clip. When it's on the horn your horn will rock in your sax stand. Second, the transmitter's battery is rechargeable. The charger cord attaches to the transmitter using a magnetic connection. At first, I thought this was very slick but quickly came to realize that it's not such a great arrangement. If you're like me you have to charge things like this on the bus between cities, in hotel rooms, on stage, etc. The issue is that even a small jostle will disconnect the cord from the unit. This is especially a problem in a moving vehicle.

Other than those issues this is a whole lot of excellent for the price.

Pretty good for the price!

I'm a member of a 5 man horn section, and 4 of us decided to give this Samson AWX a try. We play 50+ shows a year, and overall, they have performed well. They are not the best, but for $350, this is a good deal. The sound quality is good and acceptable for live sound, especially outdoor concerts. Would we buy these again?...yes. But if you want top quality, Shure and Sennheiser have excellent systems...for 2x the price.

Not Great For Multiple Gigs...

So, this unit works as described. Doesn't alter your tone much and it's reliable. The downside versus the older Airline series is not using a replaceable battery (AAA in the Airline 77). I gig full time and sometimes have two or three in a day. When a four hour brunch gig concludes, I've got like 20min to charge the transmitter in the truck en route to the next 3hr thing and so on for the day which has at times got me to a point where the thing has died. With the 77 I could simply replace the AAA battery for each gig and keep it moving (and I used rechargeable batteries in an Energizer 15min charger). So for me this thing is more of hinderance than my old Airline units for multi-gig days. I think the sound reproduction for the AWX is superior but if the thing can't function for more than 4-5hrs and you have more than one gig, be prepared for charging difficulties.

If anyone at Samson reads this, it would really slap if they would put out an AWX with replaceable batteries as an option. Best of both worlds in my opinion. I also have the AWX micro (simply to back this one up if it dies) and you can't use different transmitters with one receiver. That might help as well to have two or three transmitters to switch out when one dies. Alas, with normal use this thing isn't awful.
