Solid-top Acoustic-electric with a Big Voice

In the Yamaha A1M Dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar, Yamaha offers a vintage look, excellent volume in the low-mid ranges, and great playability. With a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this guitar sounds fantastic. The Yamaha A1M Dreadnought takes full advantage of Yamaha's acclaimed SRT pickup for recording and stage performance. With its traditional System 66 preamp, you get volume, a built-in tuner, a 3-band EQ, and automatic midrange frequency control with a convenient slider.

Modern audio engineering with traditional style

The Yamaha A1M Dreadnought has a traditional western body cutaway, allowing its lows and highs to resonate fully and project well through its circular soundhole. The western cutaway gives it a classic look, and because it offers better access to the upper frets, soloing is easier, as you can reach higher treble notes more comfortably. Sweetwater fingerstyle players love that!

Quality woods plus classic design equal brilliant sound

Sitka spruce is highly valued for guitar tops — and for good reason. This select grade of stiff but elastic softwood is equally suited to aggressive strumming, flatpicking, and even fingerpicking styles of play. The Yamaha A1M Dreadnought features a solid Sitka top with mahogany back and sides, producing warm, balanced tones from low to high, and the rosewood fingerboard and bridge provide additional responsiveness. This guitar looks, sounds, and plays great.

Studio sound onstage

Normally you can best hear a guitar's subtle nuances when it's miked in the studio, but the Yamaha A1M Dreadnought has Yamaha's SRT pickup, which brings those wonderful acoustic sounds to the stage. Further customization is provided through the AMF midrange frequency adjustment on the preamp control panel.

Yamaha A1M Dreadnought Features:

  • 6-string acoustic-electric with traditional western cutaway
  • Solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides for bright, warm tone
  • SRT pickup brings studio quality sound to the performance stage

Rated 5/5
Excellent guitar

I tried a lot of acoustics before purchasing this one. To be honest, I was not really looking for a Yamaha. However, I picked one up and played it and liked it a lot. I then tried the different levels of the Yamaha and liked them better than the other guitars I was playing at the same level. I decided to go with the A1M because out of all the guitars I tried it provided the best quality for my budget. I received the guitar and it plays very well out of the box. So much so that I have been a little lazy on setting it up. I set up all my guitars after purchase, and will set this one up as well. It is just close enough to where I like it that I have not bothered yet. Very pleased with the sound, playability and finish of the guitar. I think Yamaha are highly underrated.

Yamaha A1M
I recently ordered a Yamaha A1M acoustic electric guitar from Sweetwater. It arrived in about four days and was very well packed to avoid damage in shipment. I was hesitant to order and acoustic guitar without first seeing and handling it. In my experience acoustic guitars are each unique and usually one will stand above the rest in several guitars of the same model. The guitar I received is nice and has good sound and intonation. There was one small scratch on the front near the cutaway that won't polish out, but is very small. I question the sign off list of the pre-inspection. The acoustic pickups and preamp section is checked off, but there was no battery in the guitar. Do the inspectors put in a battery check the electronics and then take the battery out? The boxes for neck relief and action height were checked and tests where different bends and chords were checked. That person must have visegrips for fingers because the strings were so high off the neck it was not playable. After a couple turns of the truss rod I got the action to a playable level. I've ordered electric guitars from Sweetwater in the past and they weee ready to play. I don't think I will order acoustic guitars in the future. I realize that customers can choose to have the guitars set up for an addition fee, but when choosing a guitar at a local guitar store you have the option to pick the best that is on display. I would suggest that acoustic guitars be given a little more attention before shipping.
