Yamaha A1M
I recently ordered a Yamaha A1M acoustic electric guitar from Sweetwater. It arrived in about four days and was very well packed to avoid damage in shipment. I was hesitant to order and acoustic guitar without first seeing and handling it. In my experience acoustic guitars are each unique and usually one will stand above the rest in several guitars of the same model. The guitar I received is nice and has good sound and intonation. There was one small scratch on the front near the cutaway that won't polish out, but is very small. I question the sign off list of the pre-inspection. The acoustic pickups and preamp section is checked off, but there was no battery in the guitar. Do the inspectors put in a battery check the electronics and then take the battery out? The boxes for neck relief and action height were checked and tests where different bends and chords were checked. That person must have visegrips for fingers because the strings were so high off the neck it was not playable. After a couple turns of the truss rod I got the action to a playable level. I've ordered electric guitars from Sweetwater in the past and they weee ready to play. I don't think I will order acoustic guitars in the future. I realize that customers can choose to have the guitars set up for an addition fee, but when choosing a guitar at a local guitar store you have the option to pick the best that is on display. I would suggest that acoustic guitars be given a little more attention before shipping.
