Precision You Can Trust for Mission-critical Mixes

A top choice for recording studios, post-production houses, digital editing suites, radio, TV, and outside broadcasting, the Genelec 8340A provides you with the unvarnished truth — a must-have element for mission-critical applications. The 8340A houses a 6.5-inch woofer, fortified by an advanced reflex port design, which delivers outstanding, low-distortion low-frequency reproduction down to 45Hz. Moreover, this monitor’s 1-inch tweeter, bolstered by Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), yields flat on- and off-axis response as well as rock-solid imaging. Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) ties it all together, certifying a smooth frequency response, minimal cabinet-edge reflections, and a superbly accurate sound stage. You also get dedicated high-headroom amplifiers for each driver, a premium active crossover, sophisticated drive unit protection, and Genelec’s cutting-edge Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) and GLM calibration technology, enabling you to adapt this monitor to any acoustic environment. Additionally, the 8340A includes Genelec’s power-saving Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology and a vibration-decoupling Iso-Pod stand. Boasting industry-leading clarity, a compact form factor, and intelligent features, the Genelec 8340A redefines what critical listening should sound like.

Intelligent features for intelligent monitoring

Like all of Genelec’s 8000-series monitors, the 8340A is replete with proprietary technologies, ensuring ultra-precise audio reproduction in any playback environment. For starters, the 8340A features Genelec’s DCW, certifying flat on- and off-axis response for a wider sweet spot, an increased direct-to-reflected sound ratio for reduced room coloration, and incredibly solid imaging. Next, Genelec’s MDE cabinet, which features rounded edges and a gently curved front and sides, delivers a smooth frequency response, minimizes cabinet-edge reflections, and facilitates an incredibly accurate sound stage. Finally, thanks to Genelec’s ISS power management system, you’ll never have to worry about shutting down your studio monitor again. After a period of time, if ISS doesn’t detect anything, it switches your 8340A over to a low-power sleep state, safeguarding your gear and sparing you the wasted electricity.

Precision monitoring meets room-adaptive intelligence

The 8340A is a truly world-class midfield monitor, and thanks to Genelec’s SAM system, it delivers optimal performance in any acoustic environment. Built on the proven electroacoustic foundations of the company’s 1200, 8000, and 7000 Series, SAM automatically molds the 8340A to your room’s acoustics by correcting levels, delays, and anomalies, all managed using Genelec’s proprietary GLM software, which enables you to control up to 80 networked SAM monitors and subwoofers. Moreover, with robust features like AutoCal automated calibration and customizable acoustical settings, the 8340A ensures consistent, neutral, low-distortion sound reproduction across varying environments and production setups, supporting both analog and digital workflows.

Genelec: a legacy of monitoring excellence

Reviews

Like the 8240 a little better but still v nice
These are great, got 6 for the surround mixing room to add to the 8240 that I have. Two needed to be sent back for replacement due to a manufacturing issue with the woofer. Surprised by this but hey things happen. Genelec took care of it. I liked the power switch better on the 8240 but the new ones 8340a have the ability to be remotely powered on and off where as the 8240 cannot. They sound identical to the 8240 which is great. Overall great sounding speakers. I prefer running them analog but the GLM is fun to play with.

Last monitors I'll buy
I don't need to shop for monitors anymore. This is it. The GLM software is great for tuning to the room. I mix with these in a well treated room. Can't be happier. I've listened to these and also some more expensive genelecs in an untreated room - not recommended. The software can't make up for phase cancellation, so bass frequencies can be an issue.
how do these sound so good
its honestly disgusting how good genelecs sound. everything sounds trash compared to basically any genelec monitor
Should I get these?
I got these because I am in a small but heavily treated room. If my space increases, these will be the rear surround speakers and the 8" will be in front.
I paired these with the 10" sub.
After room correction, there is only one way to describe the sound;

There is Genelec, and then there is everything else.
