Aggressive Tone and Gig-focused Features

Peavey's 6505 MH mini tube amp head packs all the tonal tenacity that the 6505 series is known for, and it's got what it takes to be a gig-worthy guitar amp, too. You'll never have to worry about showing up to a gig with bad power tubes, because the Tube Status Indicator tells you how they're doing at a glance. Send your tone directly to the PA system with the Mic Simulated Direct Interface, with a speaker defeat switch to turn off your cabinet for lower stage volume (or for silent practice with headphones). And with footswitchable channels, crunch, reverb, and effects loop, you've got all the flexibility you need with the Peavey 6505 MH.

Peavey 6505 MH Tube Guitar Amplifier Head at a Glance:
  • More versatile than some 2-channel amplifiers
  • Perfect for creating your own rock and metal guitar tones
  • Designed for long-term performance
More versatile than some 2-channel amplifiers

With two footswitchable channels, the Peavey 6505 MH sets a solid foundation for most rockers and metal guitarists. Each channel has separate pre- and post-gain controls for fine-tuning your tone. And the rhythm channel also has a footswitchable crunch mode that's perfect for putting some hair on a clean tone. Factor in a footswitchable reverb and effects loop, and you've got a lot of flexibility in the 6505 MH.

Perfect for creating your own rock and metal guitar tones

We've had the great opportunity to get to know Hartley Peavey here at Sweetwater, and we know that Peavey approaches guitar amp design with the goal of making the amps sound as unique as your playing style. The 6505 MH definitely has an aggressive sound to it, as well as a fast and sensitive response, but it doesn't have a specific, defined voice. Spend some time with it, and you're sure to come up with a sound that is distinctly yours.

Designed for long-term performance

We keep referring to the 6505 MH as a gig-ready amp, and we mean that Peavey designed this guitar amplifier with long-term performance in mind. Proper tube maintenance isn't the favorite activity of any guitarist, so the 6505 MH's Tube Status Indication makes it much easier to make sure your amp is always ready to rock. We know that sometimes a direct output is a much better solution than miking up your cabinet, and the 6505 MH's Mic Simulated Direct Interface makes it easy to plug directly into the PA with respectable tone. From practice to recording to performance, the Peavey 6505 MH is the kind of amp you can count on.

Peavey 6505 MH Tube Guitar Amplifier Head Features:
  • Mini tube amp head with switchable 20-watt, 5-watt, or 1-watt operation
  • Inject great tone directly into the PA system with the Mic Simulated Direct Interface
  • USB output for easy recording directly to your DAW
  • Tube Status Indication lets you know your power tubes are still working properly
  • Footswitchable channels, crunch, effects loop, and reverb
Find your tone with the Peavey 6505 MH mini tube amp head!

All around
Clean channel sounds great and red channel screams
Great all around amp
Awesome.

Sounds just like it's s big bro with less bass response of course. My only issue is that that it goes from 0-100 on the volume other than that it with that right speakers and sounds good through many 4x12.

Great! The most versatile of all the 6505 series amps.
Great amp in all regards. Clean, crunch and lead all great. Lead channel is pure 6505 lead we all love. Rhythm channel is not like a 6505+ but more Peavey 5150 OG but tighter, and with a foot switchable crunch. It is probably my favorite rhythm channel of all the 6505 amps. Beautiful rich (not sterile) cleans, fat crunch that can verge on metal. Basically, any type of gain the song might call for can be achieved by this channel. I know this amp is mainly used for metal, but I have used 5150/6505+ amps for many years covering all styles as a guitarist for hire. The 6505 mh is by far the most versatile. I recently played a show with mine in a Bob Seger tribute band, and it sounded fantastic! I opted for the mic sim out straight to the board and it sounded great. First time I have played a show in my decades of gigging and not put a mic on a cab. I have heard a lot of people comment the mic sim out is just so-so, and that might hold true for extreme metal, but for classic rock, southern rock, classic metal, country, and jazz, it works great. The other 7 guys in the band love this amp and say I have never sounded better. Thanks Peavey, Sweetwater, and a very special thank you to Cory Medina at Sweetwater for always being so helpful!

Smaller than I expected (a good thing)....with some desirable features....
When I opened up the box that contained this tube head I was expecting something bigger....
Good things do come I small packages.
I like the sound's I can dial in on this head.
The "speaker defeat" button is a great feature....as well as the "ground lift" button. The 20/5/1 watt selector makes this head quite versatile. Love the fact that I can play in my apartment with headphones...and do silent recording.
I am impressed.
Killer amp
I bought one of these used to experiment with and am extremely happy with it! I modified the front because it was boring, but aside from that, all I do is plug it in. Either bland with just it's reverb or with my Boss GX100 plugged in 4CM it's a great amp. Considering the DI, speaker defeat switch and USB as well and send and receive and multiple voltage switch, it competes with Revv and others that are twice the price.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Zach Richards
I've recorded on a full-sized 5150 and 6505+ for years, so I was skeptical about what kind of sound I could get out of Peavey's 6505 Mini Head. It only took a few seconds to find out it's on par with it's bigger siblings, and maybe even better in its own way. The EL84s bring down the volume while still retaining the huge, aggressive sound of a classic 5150/6505 amp. I look forward to playing my 6505 Mini whenever I can.
