Beautifully Designed Acoustic-electric Cutaway from Taylor

The Taylor 214ce Plus represents all that has made Taylor a trusted and sought-after instrument: impeccable design, fine appointments, and signature Taylor tone. This Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric features a solid torrefied Sitka spruce top with layered Indian rosewood back and sides. Layered rosewood back and sides bring spruce’s power into focus with low-end warmth, singing highs, and a balanced midrange. The 214ce Plus enhances Sitka spruce’s prized sound with a special roasting procedure (torrefaction) that removes moisture and enhances musicality (while reducing weight and enriching color and woodgrain). A mahogany neck with an African ebony fingerboard offers incredible playability and response, and Sweetwater guitarists welcome the deep Venetian cutaway’s improved access to higher notes on the fingerboard. Moreover, the 214ce Plus features signature Taylor ES2 electronics that make recording and playing onstage a smooth and empowering experience like no other.

Taylor’s Expression System 2 delivers incredibly natural sound with full dynamics

Traditionally, acoustic-electric guitars have employed under-saddle piezo transducers, but Taylor has discovered a better way. Their revolutionary Expression System 2 uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup’s three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors respond organically to the instrument’s acoustic energy as it’s transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor’s custom-designed preamp (which delivers a 25% hotter signal), the result is a more natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness to your pick or finger attack.

Top-notch appointments and Plus series design

The 214ce Plus is outfitted with the kind of top-notch appointments and build details that have made Taylors much beloved by guitarists the world over. Magic happens inside the sound chamber where C-Class bracing provides heightened dynamic sensitivity and mature, balanced tone. A NuBone nut and Micarta saddle give the 214ce an extra “something” in every note and every chord. Lastly, each 214ce Plus body is double-bound and embellished with a striking rosette for premium looks that punch well above this guitar’s tantalizing price.

Taylor 214ce Plus Features:

  • Impeccably designed acoustic-electric provides outstanding playability and tone
  • Solid torrefied Sitka spruce top vibrates with top-notch resonance and premium roasted looks
  • Layered Indian rosewood back and sides offer rich, full lows and sweet, fluid highs
  • Mahogany neck with African ebony fingerboard offers incredible playability and response
  • Expression System 2 delivers rich amplified acoustic tone
  • C-Class bracing balances tone and provides a bump in sustain
  • NuBone nut and Micarta saddle provide another level of tone and resonance support
  • Deep Venetian cutaway is smooth and makes accessing higher notes up the neck a breeze
  • Premium Plus series binding and appointments teem with exceptional value

Reviews

I love it!
I bought this acoustic\electric Taylor from Sweetwater a month and a half ago. Before I got this guitar I played my Dad's acoustic Indiana brand guitar that was cheap and wasn't taken great care of. I decided to get a new guitar from Sweetwater and did a ton of research on guitars. I went to Sweetwater and played quite a few of the different brands and when I tried this one, it suited me very well and the sound was what I was looking for. It sounds awesome unplugged and plugged in. The electronics work well and I haven't had any problems with it. The guitar also holds it's tune very well. It even sounds good with the capo as high as it can go. The guitar case it came with was also great. The only problem I came across was the pegs to hold the straps were a touch big so I had to make the strap holes a little bigger. (Not a big deal.) So overall as my first guitar to own, I think it was a great choice. ( If you are looking to buy a guitar I would advise you to go to Sweetwater or a music store and play a lot of different guitars and find the one that has the best sound and quality.)
It's a bargain
I played so many guitars looking for the right tone and playability and I finally found it. This guitar plays and sounds better than guitars many times the price. It's stunning and the build quality is typical Taylor which is to say it's flawless. I usually have to set up my guitars to my liking when I get them but not here. No adjusting or setup is needed right out of the box. The action is great and the string selection, D'Addario, is spot on. This is the second guitar I've bought from them recently. The electronics sound natural which is a plus. I don't think you can do better at this price point. The Sweetwater customer service is stellar as usual.
Music background: Over 50 years in bands of all types.
Absolutely Awesome
Buying my Taylor 214ce Plus from Sweetwater was such a great experience that I felt compelled to leave a review. From the moment I reached out, Matt Subers made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. He took the time to listen to what I was looking for, offered thoughtful recommendations, and kept me updated every step of the way. It truly felt like having a trusted friend guide me through the purchase.
When the guitar arrived, it was flawless—beautifully set up, perfectly packed, and ready to play. The tone and feel of the 214ce Plus exceeded all my expectations. I was a lumber inspector for 30+ years. I have seen a lot of lumber. This is such a beautiful guitar. It is literally a work of art.
Sweetwater consistently proves why they're known for outstanding service. Their attention to detail and customer care are second to none. I'm thrilled with my purchase and grateful for the support Matt and the team provided. Thank you Matt!
Very Satisfied
The Taylor 214ce Plus is a great acoustic guitar for it's price range. The guitar has a very good tone used both as an acoustic or an electric. In the electric mode it still maintains the great acoustic tone so good job by the people at Taylor.
Absolutely stunning!
The guitar exceeded all my expectations. The Grand Auditorium body provides a "big" sound. The neck action is ideal for fingerpicking. The softshell case is off-the-chart. Taylor has found the sweet spot! The Sweetwater folks were great to work with.
