Discover Onstage Comfort with Taylor’s 212ce

More players than ever before can experience stage-friendly features, chiseled sonics, and unsurpassed comfort with the 212ce Grand Concert acoustic-electric guitar from Taylor. The Grand Concert shape boasts modest but full-sized guitar dimensions. The size is then paired with shape tapers and the extra comfort of a short-scale fingerboard, resulting in a more balanced sound that naturally blends into any live or studio mix. The 212ce's clear sound is enhanced with layered walnut back and sides and a solid torrefied spruce top, rendering this guitar incredibly responsive to the touch. These tonewoods — paired with an ebony fingerboard and Taylor’s signature neck carve applied to a mahogany neck — empower ambitious fingerstyle players, solo performers, young players, and anyone else who stands to benefit from buttery-smooth playability. The final touch? Built-in ES2 electronics that deliver organic, customizable sound that's compatible with PA systems, acoustic amplifiers, and recording interfaces. Discover the difference a workhorse Taylor guitar can make with the 212ce acoustic-electric Grand Concert from Sweetwater!

Timeless tonewoods with a chiseled voice

The 212ce Grand Concert’s comfortable feel and dimensions are outsized by the supportive sound of walnut and spruce. An exceptional tonewood pairing, walnut and spruce are known for exceptionally clear sonics and stringent note separation. A torrefied spruce top keeps the 212ce’s sound vibrant and full with excellent dynamics capable of singing, biting, or crooning, all depending on your touch. Layered walnut back and sides add rich tonal depth to spruce’s power for crystalline clarity and a noticeably “cleaner” sound than mahogany. These tonewoods give the 212ce a very defined presence, but its intimate sound will never bully or overpower a mix. It’s the ideal choice for stage and studio work!

Effortless Grand Concert playability

One of Taylor’s iconic guitar shapes, the player-friendly Grand Concert body style combines modest dimensions and a short-scale fingerboard for matchless comfort onstage or off! The Grand Concert sings with a chiseled tone, outsized projection, and an impressive dynamic range, making it especially popular with solo artists and studio players. A maneuverable size and responsive sound let players relax and exert less while still making their musical point, which leaves surplus energy for putting toward singing, technique, and accurate play. What’s more, for better access to upper frets, the 212ce Grand Concert also features Taylor’s signature Venetian cutaway.

Expression System 2 electronics

With built-in ES2 electronics, the 212ce Grand Concert is ready for the stage! The ES2 system features a revolutionary segmented pickup located behind the bridge saddle; this pickup position delivers remarkably accurate and clear sound production that’s authentic to your playing. Each ES2 system features a handy master volume knob for fast level adjustments, in addition to a 2-band EQ for independent treble/bass adjustments to get the sound you need. Plus, the ES2 system also has a built-in phase switch, which offers essential feedback suppression whenever the system is active.

  • High-quality acoustic-electric performance at a great price — a player-favorite workhorse!
  • Grand Concert body shape pairs warm articulation with ultimate playing comfort
  • Torrefied spruce top responds incredibly to player dynamics and keeps tone full

Taylor 214 ce

Overall I very much like the guitar. I owned a Taylor 714 that I purchase about 20 years ago it was a lemon. The ES pickup system was troublesome so much so that Taylor came out with the ES2 that I think is wonderful. Further the 714 required a neck set 2 different times before I sold it and swore to never buy another Taylor.

Back to the present, I was convinced to by the 214 and think it's a real good value. I immediately changed out the strings, while doing so discovered that the bridge pins are plastic, so installed ebony pins. Also I replaced the plastic truss rod cover with a rosewood cover. Replacing the plastic is not a complaint I actually enjoyed making an upgrade. The ES2 is a definite improvement from Taylor's original ES system. At the present price point Taylor's 214ce is a gem .
