Taylor's Distinctive Grand Auditorium

The Taylor 114ce acoustic-electric guitar is a terrific choice for beginning or seasoned players. You'll find the 114ce's maple neck extremely comfortable and playable, while its solid Sitka spruce and sapele tonewood combination provides you with the perfect balance of warmth and sparkle. On top of that, the onboard ES2 electronics translate your true acoustic tone when playing plugged in. For striking clarity and Taylor tone at a great price, look no further than the Taylor 114ce acoustic-electric guitar from Sweetwater!

Note: This guitar will ship with either a crelicam ebony or eucalyptus fingerboard, subject to availability from Taylor. Please call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer with any questions.

Grand Auditorium body style

Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 114ce, employs the width and depth of the dreadnought. But its narrower waist gives Grand Auditorium-bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look with remarkable high-end response — helping to sharpen the definition of each note. And the comfort of this body style is a huge reason the 114ce is a popular instrument for live performance. From fingerpicking to strumming, the 114ce Grand Auditorium is a great choice for nearly every playing style.

Unique tonewoods

The tonewoods chosen for the 114ce offer detailed tone, strong projection, and durability. The sapele back and sides offer rigid construction that aids in the guitar's pronounced tone and helps the instrument remain stable under fluctuating climate changes and rough handling. The maple neck ensures a ringing midrange with plenty of top-end detail. Lastly, the 114ce now boasts a torrefied top made from solid Sitka spruce. Sitka spruce is a natural choice for acoustic guitar tops, and Taylor’s roasting procedure (torrefaction) enhances spruce’s resonant response while reducing weight and giving woodgrain an extra-vivid look.

Taylor's Expression System 2

Taylor's Expression System 2 uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup's three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors respond organically to the instrument's acoustic energy as it's transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor's custom-designed preamp, the result is a natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness. Sweetwater's guitar gurus are mightily impressed with Taylor's Expression System 2.

Taylor 114ce Features:

  • Grand Auditorium body style delivers exceptional high-end response
  • Torrefied spruce and sapele tonewoods provide balanced warmth and sparkle
  • Hard rock maple neck fuels comfortable playability and articulate tone
  • TUSQ nut and micarta saddle ensure a buzz-free, well-tuned performance
  • Die-cast chrome-plated tuners maintain tuning stability
  • New C-Class bracing allows the guitar's top to vibrate more freely with rich presence and powerful projection
  • ES2 electronics for outstanding amplified performance

Reviews

My first Taylor
Went to look at the 24E (I think it was) The quality was not there, compared to the regular line of Taylors. So I decided to buy an entry level 114CE and I Love it. The voice from it its great and it just feels better than my other guitars. I have a couple nice acoustics to compare it to, but even at the entry level it is far superior. Now I want one with the nice features, but that's another story.

My first Taylor
This is a fine instrument. Not a rough spot anywhere, meticulously crafted. Plays like butter, sound is perfectly balanced. Worth every penny, and thanks to Chris for your support.
Taylor 114 Quality Surpasses the price point.

I've owned a Taylor 114 for over 10 years I've never had any issues with it. It sounds better than many $ guitars I've played. The older it gets the better it sounds. It have a full range of clear bass mid and high range. These are just fantastic guitars . You can't go wrong. The on board sound system sounds incredibly good.

Wow what a great guitar!
This guitar is really nice. The action, tone, intonation, build and playability make this guitar a rock star. The gig bag that comes with it is also very nice. You can't go wrong with this guitar at this price. One of the best I have ever played.
Great Sound
Bought this guitar 3 months ago. After 40 years I decided I wanted to play again, another words a beginner again. Wanted a good sounding guitar under a grand. Taylor was the choice and I'm very pleased. Great tone, stays in tune good action. I highly recommend.
