Bold Acoustic-electric from Fender

The Newporter Player acoustic-electric guitar from Fender has a bold look along with big volume and playability. The Newporter Player features a solid spruce top with sapele back and sides for a warm, sustained tone that spans the high, mid, and low ranges. A nato neck with a walnut fingerboard offers incredible playability and response, ideal for any style from fingerpicking to robust strumming. And when you are ready to plug in, a Fishman-designed pickup/preamp system kicks out sweet amplified acoustic tone.

Legendary neck with incredible feel

The Fender neck has become legendary among guitarists of nearly all genres. The Newporter Player carries the torch for that legendary feel with an incredibly comfortable slim-taper, "C"-shaped profile. This cut is ultra-friendly on the fret hand, letting you slide up and down the neck for leads as well as chords in all positions. This incredible neck is complemented visually with the classic matching 6-in-line headstock — a much-loved design here at Sweetwater.

Fine appointments support tone

The Newporter Player has been decked out with fine appointments that add to its tone and visual appeal. To begin, an aged white binding adds a beautiful complement to the woods and body color on this awesome instrument. In addition, scalloped X-bracing adds stellar resonance support, while a genuine modern Viking bridge enhances the resonance of this fine acoustic, as well.

Stellar amplified tone

The Fishman-designed pickup/preamp system includes Volume, Push Tone, and standard Tone controls, which let you dial in your preferred acoustic output.

Reviews

Left Handed Fender Newporter
Bought this guitar as my first acoustic guitar about a year ago with my first guitar being the squire telecaster. Nothing but good things to say about this guitar. Great playability and still as full a sound as any other acoustic. The cutaway shape allows for electric players to easily riff and solo all the way up the neck and the acoustic-electric setup makes it great for playing live. Aside from new strings and the occasional tune-up I have not changed a thing on this guitar. That is owed to my sound engineer who deserves a shoutout Danny Mosco. He still calls me every six months or so to ask about my experience with the guitar and how it's playing even a year later. Definitely recommend this guitar as well as the other products on Sweetwater.

excellent everyday guitar

As a daily home player at an intermediate level, this guitar has no short comings what so ever. The guitar feels, sounds and looks great. You could tell me this is a $ guitar and I'd believe it.

GO SWEETWATER

Nice sounding guitar
Very nice sounding and beautiful guitar. I replaced the strings which were ok with the yamaha light strings that i have used in the past to really enhance the tone. Very pleased with my purchase.
Pleasantly Surprised
I bought this guitar about 6 months ago to use as my out-of-studio teaching guitar. As a lefty my choices have always been limited. I wasn't expecting too much for the price but I hoped it would be a workable solution to bringing my 40+ year old guitars. I was surprised right out of the box.

First, Sweetwater's thorough inspection meant that the guitar arrived in perfect condition and set up almost as if I did it myself. This is a major selling point.

The playability of the Newporter is kind of ridiculous. It feels more like my Strats than an acoustic. It plays like butter. I've played dreadnoughts for 50+ years so I was delighted and how comfortable this guitar is. It's perfect for finger-style in open tunings.

The sound is, well, young. It's tone is very clear and well balanced but it's lacking in the overtones of a more expensive or well played in instrument. That said, I am amazed at the quality of the instrument; the solid Spruce top on mine is lovely and I expect it to "play in" as time goes on. It also looks like a million bucks. It's a really nice looking ax.

I could not be happier with the Newporter Player. It was exactly what I was looking for. And for the price one could not go wrong.
