Wow!!!!

Like another reviewer, I got this pedal with the '69 fuzz. This combo is crazy!! Hendrix & Gilmore all day!! And the Clyde Deluxe and you can cover most bases of late 60's to early 70's guitar sounds!

The deja vibe mkll is very organic sounding. Very musical. The speed you can get the effect to go is very fast. Like something is going to fall off! Lol. The build is top notch, as with any Fulltone pedal.

I couldn't be more pleased with this pedal and the quality of the build. The OCD ge is my next buy.

Best Vibe!

Really did a lot of research on a vibe pedal and narrowed it down to a few. I kept coming back to the dejavibe. I have other Fulltone pedals and love the quality sound along with the amazing craftsmanship and durability. Bonus, it came with the 18v power cord. I ordered the pedal from Sweetwater on Saturday and it was plugged in Tuesday morning. Excellent service as always at Sweetwater. Amazing pedal from Fulltone! Would highly recommend it! Don't shop anywhere else!

Subtle to big - amazing for sure

This pedal can go from very subtle to big and bold. You can tell immediately it’s very well built and so fun playing with all the sounds this little pedal has built in.

Very good vibe, but is it better than my older model?

I heard very good things about this univibe pedal, and it sounded great in demos so I decided to compare it to my old cream mini deja vibe to see if I could save on some board space that is getting very cramped (my old one is almost twice the size).

After a lot of ab testing of the two here are my conclusions:

The mkii sounds more modern and hi-fi than my cream mdv. It has a fuller frequency sweep when going through its phasing, and so it sounds more like the effect is a part of your dry signal. Clearly superior? Well, it depends on what sounds you like from a vibe. What I found is that although the mkii has a "cleaner" tone, I actually liked the frequency rolloff on the sweep of my older mdv. The mdv has more of a throb/gooey sound, whereas the modern mkii has more of a wave/swirly sound. Switching on the old mdv is immediately a more substantial tonal shift vs the mkii. To my ear, the vintage tone is more pleasing, but it is definitely not able to get as intense of a sweep.

The other big difference for me is actually quite subtle, and that is the shape of the sweep. The mkii has a much more linear sweep, whereas the mdv is just ever so sightly asymmetrical. This can be adjusted via a trimpot on the modern mkii, which is a big plus in that it can be tailored to your preference. However, even adjusting the symmetry on the mkii to my liking, it still had a much more mechanical sounding sweep, whereas one of the things I love about my old cream mdv is how organic it sounds; almost like it's breathing.

The mkii has a lot more gain and headroom, so it clearly wins out in that regard. Very easy to dial in unity gain. I also love the silver casing and the blue led much more.

One design choice on the mkii that I really disagree with is the linear behavior of the speed knob. The older models have a sort of exponential curve, where the speed changes very subtly on the first half of the dial, but ramps up quickly as you dial over that half way point. I actually love that behavior because most of the goodness comes at the slower speeds and there is a lot more room to get the vibe right. On the mkii, moving it even the most miniscule amount changes the speed noticably, and I found it much more difficult to dial in speed settings that I liked. This is really the only thing I dislike about the mkii.

The last point is that the mkii needs an 18 volt supply, whereas my old mdv uses 9 volts that get doubled internally. This might not be an issue for some, but it was going to be problematic on my board to get 18 volts easily hooked up (definitely possible, but it was going to require some extra work). I understand that's probably the sacrifice needed to have the smaller footprint for the mkii, but in my setup needing 18 volts wasn't worth the space it would save.

Ultimately I'm sticking with my cream mdv for now, but I'm going to keep the mkii around and see if it grows on me. I will say it sounded GREAT once I got the internal trim setting to my preference. I just prefer the combination of the old mdv throb and the speed control and the voltage.

Also worth noting: the noiseless psu that comes with the mkii is EXCELLENT. Really impressed to have such a quality accessory included.

Three VIBE pedals

A few days ago I received my backordered Fulltone Deja'Vibe CS-MDV mkII pedal from Sweetwater. My salesperson (Carson McClain) was great and answered all my questions; he let me know there would perhaps be a bit of a wait since it was on backorder, so I ordered the pedal with that in mind. Well, I ordered it on January 31st and got it on April 3rd. It was worth the wait. By the time you read this there may no longer be a backorder wait.

The pedal is really well made and the pots are silky smooth —— there are only three pots (volume, intensity, and speed). There are two toggle switches (one for modern & vintage and one for vibe & chorus). If you're looking for the Robin Trower/David Gilmour/Hendrix Uni-Vibe sound, set the toggle switches at vintage and chorus. As a plus, there is an expression pedal jack that lets you control the "speed" with your foot. I tried it with a ROLAND EV-5 expression pedal and also a BOSS EV-30 pedal —— it worked perfectly. Those both use 10k pots. I talked to someone at Fulltone and was told you can use pretty much any expression pedal, but a pedal with a 10k pot works best.

I compared the Fulltone Deja'Vibe with two other "Vibe" type pedals I own (a Strymon UltraViolet and a Dunlop Hendrix JHW3 mini Uni-Vibe). I like all three of them and intend to keep all three. However, the sound of the Fulltone Deja'Vibe is more organic, is all analog, sounds great, and also has a low noise floor —— it's probably my favorite of the three. My second favorite is the Strymon Ultraviolet —— it's a great sounding digital pedal, and, like the Fulltone, it has an expression pedal jack. The Dunlop has a somewhat darker tone (seems like it has more bass and/or low mids). It's analog and if used with an EQ pedal, you can fine tune the frequency response if you want it a little brighter sounding. Also in favor of the Dunlop is the high build quality, lowest price of the three, and small pedal board footprint (since it's in a mini housing).

If price isn't a big issue for you, I'd recommend either the Fulltone Deja'Vibe (at about $) or the Strymon UltraViolet (at about $). At a lower price and smaller size I'd recommend the Dunlop Hendrix Vibe pedal (at about $).
