Authentic Vintage-style Pickups

NOTE: This product is available in the United States only - no international sales.

This Original '57/'62 Stratocaster pickup set from Fender was reverse-engineered from an actual 1963 Strat, so they deliver remarkably authentic vintage sound, feel, and vibe. They look the part, too, thanks to their aged white pickup covers. Packed with period-correct Alnico V magnets with Formvar-coated wire, fiber bobbins, cloth-covered lead wires, and staggered, hand-beveled pole pieces, these pickups yield the glassy highs and warm lows you'd expect from genuine vintage pickups. The guitarists at Sweetwater are tone connoisseurs, and they dig the classic sound of these Fender Original '57/'62 Stratocaster guitar pickups!

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Perfect Upgrade for a Clapton Strat
I replaced the Gold Lace Sensors on my '93 Clapton Stratocaster with the '57/'62 pickups and I'm very impressed. The guitar has better dynamics now and I love the shimmer of this set. I was concerned about going from noiseless pickups to a standard single coil, so I lined the cavity with copper at the same time I swapped the pickups. As you can see from the photo, the aging turned out to be a good match for the naturally aged knobs on my now 31 year old Stratocaster. I've experimented with a lot of replacement pickups on many guitars over the years and this is the first time I chose a set that were better than the original pickups, (in my opinion). Very impressive!

Bright, Clear & Snappy
I purchased these pickups to replace the Yosemites that came stock in my American Performer Stratocaster. Yosemites are very good pickups but are a tad mid-rangey for what I do (60s & 70s classic rock). I did lots of research, listened to countless Youtube demos, then decided on the '57/"62s. Well.. it sure does pay to do some research. I got exactly what I needed.
These are not be the brightest pickups that Fender makes, but they're not too far from it. Very glassy & articulate with none of of that mid-hump nonsense. If you're looking for the SRV thing, these ain't it. Try the Texas Specials for that.
I play mostly clean with my fingers, Mark Knopfler-style and lose some of the brightness provided by pick attack in so doing. The '57/'62s give me all the sweet trebles, clarity & definition I need without being harsh. I run both my tone & volume knobs around 7 or 8 and I'm in Stratocaster heaven.
Bottom end is very tight & piano-like, which is what I love. Mids are flat, if not slightly scooped, which is what I prefer. I can easily add mids with pedals when I occasionally need them.
Overall the tones are snappy, crisp & very, very Strat-like. I won't say that they sound like this guy or that guy. They sound like me and MY perfect tone. This is the sound I hear in my head when I think Stratocaster.

Beautiful sounding pickups
I recently renovated my old Stratocaster that I bought at Rudy's Guitar Shop in New York in the early 80s. After a lot of research, I went with the 57/62 set. I didn't want to pay a lot! I've been playing for a long time and I've owned Fender Stratocasters dated back to 1963, so I know what those guitars sound like. As soon as I started playing with these new pickups I absolutely loved the sound. I just recorded a new song and I got some great strat tones! If you're looking for the Hendrix clean rhythm sound, look no further...

Great upgrade
Dropped these in my CV Strat and - what an upgrade! Super clear "chimey" strat tones with increased output. Very cost effective upgrade - considering for my MIM as well. As always, great Sweetwater buying experience!
Classic strat tone
So let me start with I have a Mexican strat that has been heavily modified. The neck and body is all that's original. A couple of years ago I installed a pre wired pickguard withers Texas specials and CTS pots and Gilmore 7 way switch mod. Nice right? The only thing I wasn't very happy with was the Texas specials. Go figure. I raised and lowered those pups to every height you can imagine, but couldn't get the right tone my ear was listening for. After many reviews and sound bites, I decided on these 57/62's. After an hour install and new strings what I found is that I should have installed these a long time ago. I'm talking some of the sweetest strat tones you could imagine. From Clapton to SRV and in between. These are the sweetest sounding pickups I've ever heard. I thought there might be an issue with the middle pup not being out of phase, so there's no hum canceling but I have not heard any more noise than the usual bad house ground. If your looking to upgrade to a vintage classic Fender tone these are the pups you want. Thanks Pat Weaver for always being the best sales engineer I've ever dealt with.
