Get the Big Sound of Maple

The Washburn WCG66SCE Comfort Select Grand Auditorium acoustic guitar sports unique mahogany elbow comfort binding on the lower bout, giving you an amazingly comfortable playing experience. This beautifully appointed guitar rocks big, balanced tone, courtesy of its solid cedar/spalted maple tonewood combo. And its Fishman Presys+ electronics deliver that same great tone onstage. The WCG66SCE has such fine details as a mahogany/maple body and headstock binding as well as a bookmatched spalted maple back with a maple/mahogany/maple strip. If you want smooth playability and rich, full-bodied tone in an elegant, affordable package, Sweetwater has your axe: the Washburn WCG66SCE.

The Comfort Series guitars deliver

Washburn took a look at acoustic guitars and decided to work on the ergonomics to create a more player-friendly instrument. The Comfort Series WCG66SCE's unique forearm cut eliminate the "arm rash" many acoustic players get after a night of gigging. The matte finish neck is smooth playing and needs no break-in time. You've never played a guitar as comfortable as Washburn's WCG66SCE acoustic-electric!

Fishman Presys+ pickup system delivers natural amplified sound

With the Fishman Presys+ pickup system in your guitar, you'll have amazing plugged-in tone plus exceptional tone shaping. There are bass, mid, and treble tone controls, so you can dial in your ideal sound. A notch filter helps eliminate the possibility of feedback while playing live. A brilliance control helps you cut through the mix, and the phase control helps solve phase problems when recording the Presys+ and a microphone at the same time. And to make sure you're always ready to play your best, there's a built-in tuner.

Washburn has been producing fine fretted instruments since 1883

With humble beginnings in Chicago that date back to the 1880s, Washburn is an American institution in musical instrument manufacturing. From guitars to mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, and more, Washburn has long been a recognized and cherished brand among musicians. Many of the biggest names in folk, blues, and rock 'n' roll have played these well-crafted, quality instruments. Washburn combines quality construction with premium materials to deliver an instrument that's ready to perform on any stage. Beautiful and Well Crafted. Reserved and Welll Appointed.
I've had this guitar for about 10 months now, so I believe I can write a fair and focused review and also add some suggestions for potential buyers and current owners.
First and foremost, this guitar is beautiful. A real gem.
There are not many, if any, guitars in this class that look nearly as nice as this one.
The pictures speak for themselves and it really does look as nice as it presents.
The guitar is extremely comfortable due to the contouring in the body and I wish more manufacturers would take a cue from this design, especially on their larger guitars.
The Fishman Presys 501+ Electronics are fantastic, and really bring the electric capabilities together in a uniformed way.
You have excellent control over how the transmission of your sound will carry and be amplified. This is a nice position to be in when a sound guy is messing with your tone/volume too much for your taste.
The neck is outstanding. The fretwork is top notch. I can't find any faults in the manufacturing.
They could've maybe used a smoother turning tuner set, but maybe it will smooth out with time, or maybe it is what it is, or maybe they will get replaced at some point. I'm not sure yet.
The only change I made to the guitar was a small but significant one.
With a beautiful, but rather subdued sounding cedar top, the guitar needed a bit more bite and sustain in my opinion.
The string action was a bit high on mine as well, so after making small truss rod adjustments, I also decided to upgrade the saddle as opposed to just taking the height down a bit to further lower the action.
The fact that they use a bone nut, but a plastic saddle is a real head scratcher for me. But definitely wasn't a deal breaker and it's something I chalk up to personal taste with regards to tone.
I removed the stock saddle and installed a Tusq Saddle.
It has given a shot of adrenaline to this guitar.
Not only did it drop in without needing to sand it down or tinker with it, to the exact string height I needed no less.
But it has made this guitar just sing in the most pleasant way.
Sustain, clarity and volume all improved and the proverbial blanket has been removed.
I honestly had reluctantly considered trading it in at one point and getting a Martin because the sound is a bit dull compared to an older, large Dreadnaught Takamine I have as well (uncomfortable to play due to it's large size)
But now, after this simple change, there is absolutely no way I'm letting it go.
There is nothing in this price bracket that can touch it. It is the most comfortable acoustic guitar I've ever played.
Great guitar!
This guitar is very comfortable to play, and, came set up very well. The only issue I had with it and the cedar top was a bit of a muddy sustain. That was easily resolved by replacing the stock plastic saddle and pins. Not sure the pins made any difference, but the saddle sure did. I went with a bone saddle and rosewood pins. The difference in saddle, for me, was night and day. It really brought out a great sustain and punchiness to the mids. In all, a great guitar for any level player. The pickup and electronics in this instrument are fantastic with my amp setup. I especially like the binding around the comfort notch. Beautiful!
Music background: 40+ years.
Awesome
Really plays and sounds great. Neck is comfortable and fast, the comfort shape on the body is really nice. I've owned and played many acoustic guitars in my 75 years and this is clearly the best.
