The Best of Both Worlds

For electric guitar players, gigging with an acoustic-electric guitar can be uncomfortable. Deeper bodies with hard edges can leave you feeling worse for wear after you step off the stage. But with the LTD TL-12, that's a thing of the past! This 12-string thinline acoustic-electric guitar strikes the perfect balance between acoustic guitar tone and electric guitar feel. Its slim body is made entirely from mahogany for a robust unplugged sound with plenty of sweetness. It has a Thin U-shaped mahogany neck and jumbo frets that feels like it should belong on an electric guitar. And when it comes time to plug in, premium Fishman electronics reproduce a pleasant tone that sits well in any mix. Designed for a life onstage, the LTD TL-12 Thinline Acoustic-electric guitar will change your set for the better.

A neck fit for an electric guitar

To provide a playing feel unlike any other acoustic guitar, the LTD TL-12 is equipped with a fast-playing mahogany neck. It's carved into a Thin U profile reminiscent of the lightning-fast necks of the '80s. Your fingers will delight at the smooth feel of the roasted jatoba fingerboard. And to round out the electric-style playing experience, LTD equipped this guitar with 22 jumbo frets for a familiar playing feel. If you love the feel of a thin and fast neck, Sweetwater believes you'll like the LTD TL-12.

Premium tonewoods make for great acoustic character

For the TL-12, LTD chose choice tonewoods to provide the best possible acoustic sound. The mahogany top, back, and sides create a deep, warm, and highly resonant tone. Together with the set mahogany neck and jatoba fingerboard, the LTD TL-12 produces a potent blend of excellent definition and savory resonance.

Fishman electronics for stellar plugged-in tone

Since the TL-12 is designed to be a perfect stage companion, it needs standout electronics. The team over at LTD didn't disappoint! They equipped this acoustic-electric guitar with a Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup. Sonicore pickups are trusted by guitarists all over the world due to their impeccable accuracy. The pickup runs straight into a Fishman TL-3 preamp complete with tone-shaping controls and an onboard tuner. Once you plug in, you'll have an immediately useable tone that's great for any mix.

LTD TL-12 Thinline Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Thinline body design is super comfortable for playing standing up
  • Mahogany top, back, and sides produce a warm, resonant tone
  • 12-string construction facilitates a thicker tone
  • Thin U neck shape feels sleek and plays fast
  • Fishman electronics reproduce natural-sounding plugged-in tones
  • Roasted jatoba fingerboard and jumbo frets feel smooth and comfortable under your fingers

Reviews

Surprisingly Great!
Yes, its a Thinline. It is not meant to be played acoustically with a group of people, but is quietly great for practicing at home. It is Acoustic/Electric so plug it to an amp and your good to go. Thin body so its easy and comfortable to wrap your arm around it and play. It has a center block that not only helps to reduce feeback but also allows me to remove the octave strings and replace them with a second set of 11.5-to 47 Martin Silk & strings(lower tension strings) ( except for the low 6th string) i leave that one with just one 47 guage and no octave. I also down tune to"D" as this lessens the string tension to protect the neck and bridge. I do this because on this particular guitar I play a style of Mexican Music called Sierreno/ Campirano its basically country music in Spanish. The double strings in unison give it a punchier and fuller sound. Overall the guitar is solidly built feels good in my hands and weights around 7 plus pounds.I have had it less than a month as of this writing so I can't comment on the durability. For me its fun to play and my small hands feel comfortable on the fretboard. Ohh and lets not forget the candy ywas Awesome!

Do yourself a huge favor and get one!
When I saw this guitar advertised I somehow knew immediately that I was buying it. I chose the one with the most beautiful fret board. It arrived in perfect condition without a single blemish. I always take the strings off and replace them before I ever play a new guitar. After tuning I let it sit overnight then retuned it. I made just a very small truss rod adjustment, retuned it and when I played it I fell in love with it. It doesn't have a lot of acoustic sound but it's enough for sitting around and playing. It has a very good Fishman preamp, eq and built in tuner. The sound is a warm true sound even though my Marshall stack. I have never been very comfortable playing a 12 string, but this one is so easy to play. It has a low action, fast neck that is truly comfortable to play! I find myself playing and writing on this guitar with out an amp. If you're considering an electric/acoustic 12 string you have to get one. Worth every dollar! Thanks to Phil at Sweetwater for all his assistance!
The Best!

First off I'm 67 and have been playing acoustic classic rock since the 70's. I've played 12 string my whole life. After I retired in 2020 I started looking for a 12. Looked and bought everything that was less than $. Didn't like any of them. Guild, (lower end stuff) Taylor. (a couple of nice used taylor's but still didn't do it for me. Then I stopped looking for that big booming sound and instead went for playability and using IR's. Bingo! a small TC electronics ir loader if you want to play live or an ir loader of your choice and you have an incredibly playable neck AND a nice sound. Any way the best 12 string I've played. And it stays in tune every time I grab it and the neck is stable.
