A Stunning Mahogany Acoustic

Many guitarists around Sweetwater can attest to the quick favoritism for Larrivee acoustics when they first dropped into our warehouse. After all, acoustic guitars built with all solid tonewoods and crafted by a team of stunningly skilled luthiers tend to produce sound that bewitches the ears in the best way possible. Particularly, Larrivee’s OM-40-MH delivers world-class sound with a body constructed entirely of rich mahogany with a stunning ebony fingerboard and headplate. The tone? Woody, open, warm, and punchy. This acoustic also benefits from Larrivee’s specially designed Scalloped Parabolic Hybrid bracing system. Pick up the OM-40-MH and see what the commotion is all about. As with any Larrivee, you won’t be disappointed.

Tonewoods and bracing make the world go round

Take a deeper dive into this knockout Larrivee acoustic and you'll find its tone only matches its fine looks. This mahogany? All solid wood, no laminates or layers whatsoever. That means pure mahogany tone that’s open, warm, and oh-so punchy. Add to that Larrivee’s proprietary Scalloped Parabolic Hybrid bracing system and you’ve got a maximum strength guitar with extra vibration in the soundboard and a controlled and dynamic bass response. A comfortable OM body shape with plenty of projection and a sleek ebony fingerboard tie it all together!

Larrivee Guitars: world-class craftsmanship

Since 1967, Larrivee has approached guitar building differently. From uniquely designed bracing systems to eco-sourced, hand-selected tonewoods, each Larrivee instrument that leaves the factory doors has something remarkable to offer the world. Still refining his guitar models and searching for the finest tonewoods the world has to offer, founder Jean Larrivee now works with his two sons to produce peerless instruments with legendary tone and quality.

Larrivee OM-40-MH Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • Built with all solid, hand-selected tonewoods
  • Mahogany construction on top, back, sides, and neck gives this guitar warm, punchy, open tone
  • Ebony fingerboard makes for a sleek fretting surface
  • Larrivee’s Scalloped Parabolic Hybrid bracing system strengthens the guitar and give extra vibration to the soundboard

Reviews

Gambled and Won
I'm an all-mahogany lover and have owned Martins (000-15SM) and Guilds (D-20) but was never really satisfied. This Larivee is truly next level.
Music background: fingerstyle blues & Americana
Amazing guitar.
I bought this after playing the one Brandon Lake played when I fell in love with the larivee sound. This one is not acoustic ekectric so I got the LR baggs anthem and had it put in. Incredible tone, okays so soft and warm. Best guitar I've owned, got rid of my J-45 after I got this.
Outstanding OM
The Larrivee OM-40-MH I received was a fantastic example of craftsmanship, I didn't know what to expect at all as this guitar was a suggestion along my journey of finding that perfect thing for me. I have a few OM size guitars but mainly play on an OM28 and 000-18. The lack of overtones with the mahogany makes for some really great rhythm playing, the frets were all finished perfectly, the body resonates more than any other acoustic I have and frankly it was hard to find anything wrong with this guitar. I did find the neck to be a bit thin for my own taste, but after 10-15 minutes of warm up, no big deal. The only thing that didn't really make the cut for me was that the body is actually just a bit bigger than my other OM type guitars and while it was still comfy, I found myself a bit more comfy on what I already had. Just check out some of the measurements to make sure it still fits what you're looking for before you order. Build wise though, this guitar is solid.
