A Cedar-clad Classical Built for Acoustic-electric Performance

Combining time-tested classical tones with cutting-edge modern electronics, the Cordoba Stage Traditional CD represents a bold new step forward for the hybrid nylon-string acoustic-electric formula. This chambered classical brings warm, round tones to the table with a body crafted and chambered from solid mahogany. Topside, a solid cedar top produces a remarkably rich, mellow, and responsive voice that contrasts the brightness of a traditional spruce top with a slightly rounder, more worn-in flavor. Gigging guitarists will appreciate the Cordoba Stage Traditional CD’s exceptional plugged-in tone, coming courtesy of its under-saddle transducer and body mic coupled with a Stage Pickup System preamp. Finally, a stout “C”-shaped mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard will keep your hand comfortable fretting chords and stretching to notes for hours during practice and performance.

Beautiful looks and more

The Cordoba Stage Traditional CD will grace any stage with style in terms of tone and aesthetic appeal. A handsome slab of solid cedar adorns this guitar’s top, making it an eye-catcher right off the bat. A chambered body comprised of solid mahogany also diminishes its body weight and adds resonance for minimal playing fatigue during extended practice sessions. Lastly, an ergonomic “C”-shaped mahogany neck makes time onstage and practicing at home even more comfortable. If it’s not love at first sight, it will be once you play it!

Electronics bring precision to the voice

Take the Stage Traditional CD wherever your classical performances take you. This acoustic-electric sports electronics co-developed with Fishman to deliver its tone with precision. Thanks to an under-saddle transducer coupled with a body mic, both vibrations from the strings and the voice of the guitar receive direct capture from the electronics system. Pair that with a Stage Pickup System preamp and this classical Cordoba treats listeners to a warm, rich tone with fantastic midrange — a big reason it has become a favorite among classical guitarists around Sweetwater.

Hit the Stage with this one!
I am first off very grateful for all the excellent support and help that I experienced from Sweetwater with the issues that I had with the Cordoba Guitars Traditional Stage CD Guitar. They made sure I was happy and took care of everything. That is amazing and they really do go above and beyond to make things right and for me that's the only place I'll purchase gear, especially my guitars and high-end gear. That being said, I'd love to discuss why I like the Cordoba Stage Traditional CD Guitar so much first off. I love that it's 52mm at the nut. I wish they had more models at 52mm at the nut like the GK pro but they don't right now. The neck feels stellar and smooth and very comfortable. More comfortable than some of my very high guitars, less stress on my hands and fingers. I can easily play for five hours without getting cramped. I really like the pickup from Fishman here. Please learn how to blend it, (before you decide you don't like it) but you can blend in the body sensor and the under saddle pick up to make a very realistic tone where no body images or electronic trick needs to go on. The guitar unplugged is very good as well, but plugged in dialed in with the EQ take care of your high Pass filter and your good to go. I generally go between 75hzand 150hz depending on how loud the stage volume is and then tune things to taste and boom you're all set off to the races with no feedback. You can play loud with the band and don't have to hide, this really is the Nylon string guitar players dream to go hit the stage standing up or sitting down sounding good and with no feedback. It is really a fantastic instrument. Finally one of the most important things if you're a working musician its important to have an instrument that you love and that you can gig with, but unfortunately, at times people do take musicians instruments. I've had a few of my guitar stolen and only one was ever to be recovered and that was 20 years later. So why do I say all this because if it gets stolen, you would like to be able to replace it. This is a guitar that is replaceable off the rack or in the box. The price point that they're selling for it it doesn't kill you either so to me it's a complete win-win, for the professional performing musician who needs an instrument that can play a little bit louder than the traditional acoustic volume of the nylon string instrument. Does it sound like a $ flamenco or classical concert guitar no nor do I think it should? I think it fits and fills a need. I think a lot of people will find this a very enjoyable alternative to having an inexpensive instrument that you're playing professionally. Yeah its easy to sounds like you're in the studio playing with a really high-end guitar and a sound and engineer who's working your tone. I like the color of the cedar finish. I love the Savarez Strings Cantigas 510 AJ Strings are wonderful and I will continue using them. I've tried The Guitar with my Fishman Preamp, Martech MSS10, Rupert Neve, True, Avalon, Solid State Logic (SSL), and they all sound great. The guitar sounds great direct into the EV speakers with very little EQ and just a little bit of reverb. So for me it's a complete gigging instrument that fits many needs and when I'm not using it as my primary instrument it will be my secondary instrument. Cordoba nailed it out of the park.

Recommendations for Cordoba:
1. Put the input a little bit further closer to where the strap jack is.
2. Move the volume knob so there's at least 4 inches from the high E string before you would bump into the volume knob.
3. Offer a pre cut tap plate.

The Dream Guitar
If you love the incomparable nylon string sound, buy this guitar. The only issue is it's acoustic volume. It's not loud, but that's to be expected since it's basically as thin or thinner than a solid body electric. The acoustic tone is not unpleasant by any means, but it's quiet. All of that is easily forgotten when you plug it in. I have yet to make this guitar sound bad. I've used DI boxes, multi effect units, and amps designed for acoustic and electric guitars. The Stage shines regardless. When you start off with a sound this good, it's just a matter of adding EQ and effects to your individual taste. The guitar plays like butter and it's by far the most comfortable I've ever played, whether standing or sitting. I have used both hard and light tension strings on the Stage and it handles both with ease. The lighter tension may require a slight truss rod tweak, I can honestly say this is my new favorite guitar and wish it had been available many years ago.

Love this Guitar
I've played gigs with the Yamaha Silent Guitar Series but I gotta say this guitar takes the cake. If you're not looking for a truly silent guitar but are welcome to some sound from the body I highly recommend this guitar. The blend knob for the pickups can get a little tricky to balance since the inside pickup can get quite loud. So be careful with that.

I got my degree in Music Ed studying Classical guitar and I love this guitar. I use it for practice at home since it's so slim, but will switch to my regular classical for concerts two weeks in advance. I love the price point for this and love how it looks. I always get compliments about how it looks and everyone loves the sound with just a touch of reverb. 4.5/5 I'd recommend this as a good start for plugging in a nylon string.

these vary in tone and feel
I own 2 of these; the amber veneer and the natural.

My suspicions were correct - the natural has a more open tone - which makes sense because it's not laminated with a veneer. I was surprised to notice that the neck on the natural version is a bit bigger.

These guitars are about as good as is available for amplified situations.
