Custom PRS Looks and Tone at a Great Price!

The Paul Reed Smith SE Custom 24 solidbody guitar puts the sound, playability, and gorgeous looks of the Custom line into a high-quality and affordable instrument. The SE Custom 24's mahogany body and maple top hold two great-sounding PRS-designed 85/15 "S" humbucking pickups. Its 3-piece maple neck features a wide-thin shape for very easy playing, and the rosewood fingerboard is adorned with classic PRS bird inlays. Freshly updated, the SE Custom 24’s elegant new “violin carve” top deliver superior comfort for your strumming hand with the look and feel of a top-notch electric guitar. This guitar is a true PRS through and through. It's perfect for advancing beginners, intermediate players, and even gigging pros who need a rock-solid backup with stellar playability and a familiar look.

Exceptional components

The combination of a mahogany body and maple top gives the SE Custom 24 a perfect balance of rich midrange and bright snap (and the beautiful flame maple top veneer helps make this instrument a real looker). Add a pair of PRS-designed humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions, and you've got a recipe for thick, sustaining tones. Pull up on the tone pot, and you'll access chiming, bell-like single-coil sounds. This body is freshly enhanced with a shapely “violin carve” top, a gratuity previously reserved for more exclusive PRS models. The violin carve adds a contoured surface for your strumming hand with superior comfort compared to the sharper beveled edges of previous SE Custom 24s. Pair that with the maple neck’s wide-thin carve and you have the recipe for a fast, playable instrument like no other.

PRS-designed 85/15 S humbucking pickups

The two humbucking pickups in this SE Custom 24 are Paul Reed Smith-designed 85/15 S's. An update on PRS's original humbuckers, the 85/15 S's are designed to sound terrific whether used in humbucking or single-coil modes. Sweetwater guitarists have discovered they offer you plenty of output for driving your amp hard, while sounding clear and detailed when you want. These SE humbucker closely resemble the tones of the U.S.-made versions found in the solidbody electric guitars crafted at PRS's Maryland factory.

PRS quality in every guitar

All Paul Reed Smith guitars are designed for performance, right out of the case — and the SE Custom 24 is no exception. Constructed from high-quality tonewoods and components, PRS instruments carry on a commitment to quality that's been the brand's hallmark since 1985, when Paul Smith began crafting guitars for some of the most elite players in the world. In fact, you'll often see a PRS SE in the touring rigs of the most well-respected PRS artists in the world.

Excellent value on a beautiful guitar.
Great sound and action on this awesome looking guitar. South paw guitars are few but PRS killed it in this offering.

Received my PRS from Sweetwater last week. Super quick delivery, packed in a gig bag inside a padded box, inside a foam cushioned outer box. It's an excellent instrument. The 24 fret thin neck is easy to play, the electronics offer many switching and tone options. Played through my amps, every note rings out clear and crisp. The action was perfect for me right out of the box. The factory did an excellent setup on it. It's beautifully finished.
Unfortunately, it only seems to know the same songs my old Strat knows, lol!
All kidding aside, an excellent guitar and a great purchasing experience from Sweetwater!

Amazing Playability
I have two custom SE's now and they really are everything I need. They play so smoothly and have amazing tone just as is. I would recommend getting PRS SE locking tuners though. They make a noticeable difference with tuning stability and make restringing a breeze. Overall, very solid and attractive guitar that I would highly recommend to anyone.
Music background: I’be been playing in a band (Leon Trout) for 5 years and playing music for 16 years. I have experience with music production for about 12 years.
Great guitar for the price!
I've had mine for about a month. At first I wasn't that impressed with it. It sounded kind of buzzy at times and the sustain wasn't what I thought it should have been. But the more I played it, the better it got. Now it has some pretty impressive sustain and alot of the buzzing has gone away. Except the low E string. For some reason it's still kinda annoying at times. I do wish the frets were just a little lower. Something like my Les Paul has. But then it's not really fair to compare them side by side either?
Overall, very nice guitar with great fit and finish. You would be hard pressed to do better for the price.

Perfection
Perfection in every way. Perfect neck shape, finish, and craftsmanship. Tone, playability, everything. Light on the shoulder, beautiful to look at, both a delight to play and hear.Arrived perfectly setup and in perfect tune.

You don't even have to play guitar to know that PRS instruments are in a league of their own. With their exquisitely figured tops and premium appointments, each PRS is a playable work of art. But it goes way deeper than the surface. Every time Paul visits Sweetwater, we get a deeper look at his amazing instruments. We've even hosted several PRS Custom Shop events, complete with Paul's personal Wood Library! Whether they're his most affordable SE electric guitars, top-quality acoustics, or amps, it's always amazing to see what PRS comes up with. What's more, we keep a ton of PRS guitars in our amazing Guitar Showroom, so the staff at Sweetwater can get hands on with all of their latest models. We'd love to tell you all about them.
