About Schecter Electric Guitars
Schecter Guitars began in 1976 as Schecter Guitar Research, a small repair shop in Van Nuys, California, founded by David Schecter. Initially, the company focused on providing high-quality replacement parts for existing guitars. By the late 1970s, Schecter expanded to produce fully assembled custom guitars, quickly gaining a reputation for exceptional quality and craftsmanship. In 1983, the company was sold to a group of Texas investors, which led to a brief production period marked by limited output and high prices.
In 1987, Japanese businessman Hisatake Shibuya acquired Schecter, moved production to California once more, and revitalized the brand. By the mid-1990s, Schecter shifted its focus to mass production while maintaining custom shop capabilities. Introducing the Diamond Series in 1998 marked a significant turning point by offering affordable yet high-quality guitars to a broader market.
Today, Schecter is renowned for producing versatile electric guitars favored by musicians across various genres, especially rock and metal. Schecter guitars feature distinctive body shapes, premium materials, and exceptional craftsmanship. Popular models, such as the Hellraiser and C Series guitars, offer powerful pickups, sturdy hardware, and comfortable playability. Schecter also caters to a wide range of players by offering custom options and signature series, making the company a prominent choice for professionals and enthusiasts.
