A Spector bass owner since he was 16, Briggs fell in love with the comfortable contoured body of this stage-friendly instrument. He also fell in love with the thick, clean low end of the modern humbucking EMG-HZs. The EMG-HZ is a passive pickup known for its low noise and high output. It features a ceramic bar magnet combined with steel for a warm, smooth attack and an upfront midrange — ideal for progressive metal as well as other hard-hitting genres. And with the Spector TonePump Jr. active preamp with internal boost control, these pickups move through many sonic landscapes, giving you lots of room to explore your own unique sound.
A neck that’s made to play
The 3-piece maple Spector Standard neck on the NS-2000/5 features 24 medium jumbo nickel frets that provide stellar intonation up and down the neck. And the rosewood fingerboard is beautiful, smooth, and incredibly responsive for hours of comfortable playing. The full 35-inch scale gives you plenty of room for the often complex lines of progressive metal. Eye-catching mother-of-pearl dot inlays with a special 12th fret inlay designed by Ben Tuttle provide added visual delight.
