Signature 5-string Electric Bass from Schecter

Schecter has partnered with Cradle of Filth's Daniel Firth to bring you the Daniel Firth Hellraiser Extreme-5 bass guitar. This killer 5-string bass guitar features a resonant mahogany body with a captivating quilted maple top, and the double-cutaway offset design sits balanced and ready to rock when you perform. The Daniel Firth Hellraiser Extreme-5's maple/walnut set-through neck with carbon fiber reinforcement rods is absolutely primed for aggressive riffage and incredible sustain. A pair of direct-mounted Fishman Fluence active soapbar pickups, a 3-way voicing switch, push-pull coil splitting, and a 2-band active EQ equip this bass for heavy, rich bass tone, making it ideal for modern as well as old-school metal. Finally, a Schecter custom bass string-through bridge provides impeccable sustain and tuning support, giving you the peace of mind that even when you really dig in, your tone is rock solid.

Sculpted mahogany body with maple top

The Extreme-5's first impression for most players will be its mesmerizing body curves and breathtaking quilted maple top. From top to bottom, back to front, this bass is a work of art that screams heavy-hitting tone and presentation. The Extreme-5's design is equal parts form and function, comfortably hugging the player's body when seated or standing and providing unparalleled fret access up and down the neck.

3-piece neck with XJ steel frets

Daniel Firth is known for his aggressive, melodic playing, so he demanded a neck that is built for a lifetime of use and abuse. The maple/walnut set-through neck with carbon fiber reinforcement rods has been designed to resist warping and action-creep over time. Its articulate ebony fingerboard comes fitted with 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets that are spec'd for tour-grade resiliency.

Active Fishman Fluence pickups

Fishman Fluence active pickups have been a real game changer in terms of tone, output, noise, and clarity. The Fluence active soapbar pickups in this beast feature both a 3-way voicing switch and push-pull coil splitting, letting you tap into a huge array of heavy tones. Add in a 2-band active EQ section (bass and treble) and a dedicated pickup blend knob, and the Extreme-5 may replace all the other basses in your arsenal.

Schecter Daniel Firth Hellraiser Extreme-5 Bass Guitar Features:

  • Signature 5-string electric bass guitar designed in collaboration with Daniel Firth
  • Direct-mounted Fishman Fluence active soapbar pickups with 3-way voicing switch, push-pull coil splitting, and 2-band active EQ

The Name Says It All.

Well, this bass has been quite the wait for (shout out to my sales engineer Jay for bringing this one in). However, the wait for this was so worth it! First, the woods used for the bass guitar were Mahogany for the body, Maple/Walnut for the neck, and Ebony for the fingerboard. They play a significant role in making this bass have excellent weight, balance, and tone. Then again, the Fishman Fluence Modern Humbuckers deliver crisp, clean, and unmatched tone clarity. The three-way toggle switch gives excellent tone variations. The bass, mid, and treble knobs also help determine how much you want the bass to stand out.

When playing the bass, especially shredding at high speeds, the neck is wide and smooth, which makes playing comfortable. It's been super easy for me to get the notes and effects I want without working excessively. I'll also add that the sustain from the pickups is fantastic. I can let a note ring out for nearly a minute (I've timed to about fifty seconds). You can also get some lovely clean tones to play different music styles, but this bass shines for metal. The design, color, and Mother of Peral inlays draw attention very well! I've gotten to play this bass for my church worship team, and I had a small crowd surrounding it after service. It will undoubtedly be used in future sets and other live events I might do (although shredding metal songs in my room is always my go-to with this thing).

The icing on this cake is that I had the opportunity to meet Daniel Firth himself (even getting a handshake!). It makes playing this bass much cooler since he designed it with Schecter Guitars. I'd recommend this bass to any metal player, and I'd say order ASAP (it sells like hotcakes).
Music background: Bass player, Assistant worship leader, and everything else in-between.
