Massive Low End from a Conveniently Compact Combo

There simply is no way you'll believe your ears when you hear the power and low end that comes rushing from Vox's VX50 BA combo bass amplifier. This pint-size powerhouse utilizes NuTube preamp technology with 50 watts of power and a custom-designed bass reflex structure cabinet. When you flip on the onboard compression and drive circuits, you'll be performing, rehearsing, or recording with bass tone far in excess of the amp's compact dimensions. See what the hype is all about with the Vox VX50 BA 50-watt bass combo amplifier.

Tube tone for rich bass sound

Bassists have been processing their sound through tube preamps in the studio for decades. And as soon as you plug your bass into the Vox VX50 BA, you'll notice the thick harmonics and touch-sensitive tone that come through its speaker, courtesy of Vox's NuTube-equipped preamp technology. Grab a Vox VX50 BA 50-watt bass combo amp from Sweetwater, and you'll find out why bassists at Sweetwater are raving about this amp.

Built with your bass tone in mind

The VX50 BA doesn't only push the envelope with its new spin on low-end processing, its attractive cabinet and speaker system also play a massive role in the amp's deceptively large sound. Onboard you'll find an 8" woofer and a dual-ported speaker baffle that balance your lows and articulation, allowing the true nature of your instrument to shine through. You simply won't believe how big a sound the VX50 BA is capable of.

All the control you could want

With well-thought-out features, you will find everything you need to get a great bass tone. The VX50 BA boasts the all-important compression effect to even out your notes and control transients when slapping. A gritty drive circuit is available at the push of a button, and the Aux input and headphone output make a powerful practice tandem.

Vox VX50 BA 50-watt Bass Combo Amplifier Features:

  • Compact bass combo that's ready for the gig
  • NuTube technology puts true tube tone in the preamp
  • Shapable 4-band EQ
  • 50 watts delivers good headroom for louder performances
  • 8" speaker and low-end enhancing bass reflex structure
  • Onboard compression and drive effects expand your tonal palette
  • Headphone output partners well with the amp's Aux input

Reviews

Portable game-changer
Picked it up originally to downsize my rig for doing musicals (not much room in a pit, just essentially need a low watt monitor that takes up a tiny sliver of real estate and a built-in line out, and me being past the "halfway point in years" the lighter the better!!), and the weight of this little combo amp can't be beat. Reviews said the tone quality was good and it came through very nicely at first play. What surprised me is that I pulled it out to use in large open park bandshell with our 17-piece big band playing to a rather spread out audience, and when I heard the livestream I absolutely couldn't believe the clarity of tone and the strength of the sound (Schecter Stiletto Extreme in this case). It totally carried its weight for the entire concert, by itself (not plugged into house) against the full band, and I had at least a third of its headroom left. NOT just a practice amp!! When I sit in with the bar band I expect I'll still use my 200W combo as per usual as the VOX doesn't necessarily have the heavy low end presence unless you are sending the signal out to the house or a big stack, but for most of these other applications like the big band, small jazz combo stuff and musical pits, I'm amazed at its versatility and ability - and SO light!
Awesome Jazz Guitar Amp
My 2nd review. Yes, a great in house Bass Amp.

On a whim I plugged in my Godin 5th AVE Archtop. Perfect Jazz sound. Plenty of EQ; just add a Reverb pedal of your choice. Mine is EHX Holy Grail.

If you find your way to this review, this amp will do Livingroom Jazz. Very sweet. Adjusting gain will keep your box away from feedback. Dialed in right it is useful.

Sounds bigger than it is
I was looking for a small practice\Livingroom Bass Amp. Never owned anything VOX but it looked good.

I was skeptical of the composite materials for the cab. My concern was rattles from cab. Matt S at Sweetwater gave me some insight and I had him ship one as soon as available.

No disappointment here. With my 75 J-Bass it emulates the same growl as my SWR Burgundy and 2 x 15 60's Bass Cab, just without rattling anything off the walls.

Headphone output is perfect not to P-off the Mrs. Perfect amp for the purpose.

Compared to similar, this is a good choice.

INCREDIBLE.
Don't let the little 8" speaker size fool you, this thing sounds absolutely incredible.
In fact, the sound reminds me of my old 40lb Ampeg SVT CL 350 Tube Watt head and 165lb Ampeg 810 cabinet I used to gig with back in the day.
Clean, perfectly balanced tone for my 1975 Rickenbacker 4001, and then flick a switch and you have more grit.

It's crazy light too, which made me worry about resonance, but that's definitely not the case.
Whoever did the sound engineering on this thing deserves a medal. It's also well grounded so no static noise.
It's about the size of your car battery, just a few inches taller, and a whole lot lighter.

Just what I needed
Light, small, mighty, reliable. I'm having a blast with this little dude.
