Powerful Stereo Sound from a Single Cabinet

An update of the acclaimed Spacestation V.3 powered speaker, Aspen Pittman Designs' Spacestation XL delivers a 300-degree sound field from single cabinet featuring 700 watts of venue-filling power. Typically, speakers produce an unpredictable stereo image that fluctuates, depending on the listener's position. Conversely, the Spacestation XL creates a stereo sound field that emanates from a stable central point, so your audience will hear the same mix, regardless of where they're sitting. Ideal for amplifying stereo sources such as keyboards or full mixes, the Spacestation XL kicks out enough power for live performances in medium to large-sized venues. Sweetwater has always been impressed by these powered speakers and we're thrilled that the Center Point Stereo Spacestation XL has arrived!

Center Point Stereo (CPS) "magic" provides stereo sound from a single cabinet

By electronically encoding the stereo left and right signals to be mid (L+R) and side (L-R) signals, then decoding them acoustically by means of a front and side dipole-powered speaker array, the Spacestation XL is able to create an expansive, three-dimensional sound field. In fact, the Spacestation XL's sound field is so vast, its "sweet spot" is everywhere — even around corners and in adjacent rooms! CPS technology was actually awarded a utility patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office, meaning that it is truly a unique, innovative, one-of-a-kind feature. This groundbreaking technology is only available from Center Point Stereo!

Width control lets you tailor your sound for the room

Center Point Stereo understands that every room is different. It's not reasonable to expect that an effect that works well in one venue will work equally as well in another. That's why the Spacestation XL features a width control for optimizing the stereo effect to compensate for differences in room acoustics. If you're performing outdoors or in a dead space, you need more width to create a believable three-dimensional sound field. If you're performing in a live or highly-reflective space, you need less width to prevent a washed-out sound. The Spacestation XL also features a subwoofer output in case you need more low-end for very large or bass-deficient venues.

Aspen Pittman Designs' Spacestation XL Features:

  • Frequency response extends down to 50Hz
  • Stereo sound from one cabinet provides big sound in a convenient package
  • Stereo Width control lets you tailor your sound for the venue
  • 3-way 700-watt tri-amp design for power and efficiency
  • Speaker Contour controls for fine-tuning your sound
  • Subwoofer output for maximum performance in large or bass-deficient venues
  • Compact and lightweight for easy transport and setup

GREAT LITTLE AMP === P.S. TO MY REVIEW ON THIS AMP
Since I purchased this, I only played out 1x with it and even though I liked the sound etc. I ran it thru a mixer that had no TREBLE/BASS adjustments. Let me say this about the amp. IF YOU PLUG DIRECT INTO IT WITH KEYS - IT TENDS TO BE VERY MID/TREBLE SOUNDING so if you do purchase this, make sure you have an adequate mixer that allows adjustments to Lows-Mids-Highs so you can make adjustments. Treble is great for guitars, not so much for keys! ALSO - there are only 2 channels with LEFT/RIGHT for stereo inputs. What I do is pan to the center on my mixer, so you get equal left right. I use 2 keyboards, and 2 sound modules and then go out of the mixer LEFT/RIGHT OUTPUTS - and as long as you are panned CENTER on each instrument, you'll still get stereo output by running LEFT/RIGHT from mixer to the amp.

HERE IS THE MAIN REASON WHY I AM ADDING THIS P.S. to my post: I used it at a few gigs since my post, and I had my wife sit in the back of the room, move around to different areas to see dispersion! (If you're like me, I am a 'PROVE IT' person! I didn't believe them until I had confirmation on dispersed sound quality.) FOLKS -- this thing really works like they say!!! Everyone I asked on break said that no matter where they were in the room they could hear the keys clearly, and it sounded THE SAME volume level and quality - no matter where they were in the room!!! If you play keys, I know you're like me and always looking for that NIVANA level for your audience... THIS AMP IS IT FOLKS!

One more point I want to make and this one is hard for me.... Being a Hammond/Leslie sold out enthusiast, I love to take a Leslie to play my Hammond through as opposed to the 'genuine imitation Leslie' sounds produced by the Hammond clones. Now Hammond did a pretty good job and they are in fact pretty good but I prefer a Leslie whenever I can! But honestly --- (ouch! this hurts!!) - I have to admit --- The built in fake Leslie actually sounds almost BETTER than my Leslie 3300 or 145 when playing through this amp!!! I do suggest again that they put wheels on 1 side and a telescopic handle on the other... THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE PERFECT AMP. (One final suggestion: Never put the amp directly behind you. My suggestion is if you are near the end of the stage put it to your side about 5 feet away from you, and opposite side from your guitar players and drummer. They will hear it just fine. Never block it from going straight out... And if you have a corner, put it in the corner and this will disperse even better! The videos are correct... I LOVE THIS -- I HIT NIRVANA!

LOVE IT!! BEST I'VE HEARD
I have been back and forth looking for a competent keyboard amp. I tried several and sent them back. Either they lack power, or lack fidelity. I plugged this one in and used a Roland DI and Yamaha Motif 6 ... In my opinion Roland Leslie sounds suck. (Used to my Hammond and 3300 so I'm spoiled.) But I have to say, after doing a few adjustments on the amp, I was totally amazed. The separation between the horn and lower simulated rotor blew me away as did the other keyboard sounds. Piano, Rhodes, Wurli patches etc. Honestly I have not tried it out live yet but can't wait! I love the sound and separation! The only thing I wish they thought through is to put a collapsible handle and wheels. It is quite heavy and would help!

It rocks
I added a sub to clear up frequency's for louder volume. This added height to unit so I can hear it better. Is a heavy speaker but don't have to hassle with stands and speaker set up. If you have a large stage and can set it back away from you it sounds great. Unfortunately most stages are small so
I do raise speaker up to ear height. Switchable pwr supply went out. Talked with engineering at Aspen Pitman and they sent me a new one. Unit runs hot so I added a fan to move air thru cab and runs nice and cool now. With my investment, I am dedicated to make this work as I am overall happy with sound and do a lot of organ and love the Leslie sound. Overall, you get a much better sound than stereo speakers. The outputs are great to feed house system or send to mixer or monitors. Using Montage and lots of parts, I don't get the cluttered sound as I did thru regular speakers.
Sweetwater is the best!

Front Row Seat at Carnegie Hall
This Spacestation XL makes your performance room sound like being in the middle front row seat at Carnegie Hall. Especially after you get your settings correct. I added the Bose T8S stereo mixer between the Roland FR-8X V-accordion and Tyros4 keyboard and Spacestation. I then boosted the Bass using a Bose A1 Packlite amplifier driving a Bose B2 Bass Subwoofer from the Spacestation balanced subwoofer output. These four pieces of amplifying equipment and some balanced Pro Co interconnection cables make one of the most incredible true stereo field sound systems that you can get and with plenty of power to fill an 80 by 60 foot room full of the stereo field sound exactly as advertised in the Spacestation XL description. It really does sound stereo all over the room. Plug this in with your big screen TV and you"ve got an IMAX in your living room. The Spacestation XL alone produces a lot of Bass with its 12 inch woofer. I just like more and the Bose B2 fulfills that low end Bass sound very well. When you hear the Spacestation XL in the room it makes you look left and right to see where the sound is coming from as if there were speakers on the left and right sides of the room but it"s all generated by the Spacestation. This setup would be fantastic for video gaming also. I ordered these items early in the week and they were delivered to me in Houston Texas in less than 48 hours. Folks, if you buy this amplifier you are going to love your new sound. The two side handles make lifting it up and into my Honda Pilot very easy and I am not a young guy anymore. Use a pair of those plastic furniture carpet sliders and it easily slides in and out of the car. I hope that this review will help you in your decision concerning the Spacestation XL. I"m really glad I purchased it. I also use the R12-RT cart from Sweetwater and I can transport everything to the stage in one trip. Hope that you will get this amplifier and have a wonderful enjoyable music experience with it. I sure am.

Loads of diversity
I chose to try this amp as that I am traditionally a guitar player but mostly experiment with FX and pushing the sonic barrier of my instrument. This amp was made just for that. The 360 imaging that this amp provides is ridiculous. I purchased this to downsize from my Diezel Herbert pushing a 16 ohm 4x12 cab and am realizing that I probably won"t need it anymore as that this Spacestation XL (paired with the Fractal Audio Axe Fx) has enough headroom to fill a medium sized room by itself. I also utilized the Sub Out which compensated for the loss of speakers from my other rig as well as provided additional clarity and power in the lower register. This truly is a great amp.
