Reviews

The best
I use a Telefunken M80 and a tablet holder.
The old cheap stand wasn't holding the tilt adjustment.
I bought this stand and a Tama Iron Works Tour. You can see my review of the Tama.
Overall this is the best stand I've ever used.
The counterweight is light but the teeth in the adjustment mechanism hold this boom rock solid.
Note that the metal pieces are separated by rubber washers that make the grip happen. You are not limited to specific detent settings, it is infinitely adjustable . Great design! If someone tries to adjust your boom without loosening the clamp screw, mayhem will result.

The finish on the base scratched up pretty easily. I took off half a star for that. It was in a bag with other stands, so not a "defect", but could have been more durable.

Both great stands, Atlas wins by a nose.

Best stand you can get
I have been buying and trashing broken mic stands for decades. Started buying Atlas stands for my studio and the stage. These stands will go to my Grand Daughter in my will, they last for generations. You get what you pay for.

Atlas tripod boom kit

I was thrilled to see Sweetwater carried Atlas mic stands. In my years in professional sound, Atlas was the standard in the industry. I'm happy the quality has not changed. Atlas was one of the first innovators of the folding tripod concept back in the 70's, (and I still have one). The weight and durability is what I hoped for and expected. If you want a mic stand that will last, Atlas is a great investment for the money.

Very Sturdy!
These are the best boom stands I have found...while expensive, they do last!
