Additionally, synthetic reeds offer increased durability and climate stability while eliminating the need to pre-soak before a performance.

How Long Do Saxophone Reeds Last?
When it comes to cane reeds for saxophone, you’ll get the longest life and greatest day-to-day consistency by investing in a multi-pack of reeds and rotating them out on a daily basis. By rotating daily and not storing the reed on the mouthpiece between sessions, most players can expect around 2–4 weeks of top performance from each reed — provided they don’t get damaged before that.
Synthetic sax reeds, on the other hand, can last months or even years. We suggest replacing these when they start getting squawky in the high notes.
