A No-nonsense Baritone Worthy of the Prestigious Iron Label

Primed for thunderous rhythms and rapid-fire riffage, the Ibanez Iron Label RG Baritone represents the epitome of low-tuned metal performance. The core of this 28-inch scale baritone guitar is a neck-through 5-piece maple/walnut Wizard III Baritone, paired with a rich-sounding set of nyatoh wings to deliver the ground-shaking lows and cutting highs required of the Iron Label’s aggressive pedigree. Like the rest of its Iron Label siblings, the RG Baritone sports a stark black-on-black finish throughout the entire instrument, fully epitomized in the jet-black 24-fret, jumbo-fret-equipped ebony fingerboard. Next, two DiMarzio D Activator humbucking pickups produce a crisp, articulate, and full-width response that maximizes every bit of the Iron Label RG Baritone’s extend-range roar, even when descending to the depths of ultra-high-gain territory. And as the Iron Label RG Baritone’s performance-obsessed aesthetics suggest, this guitar gives you a rock-solid hardware configuration — a sustain-enhancing Mono-rail bridge and Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads provide you with superlative stability truly worthy of this guitar’s iron inspiration.

Active guitar tones without the battery

Ibanez loaded the Ibanez Iron Label RG Baritone with a pair of DiMarzio D Activator humbucking pickups. These high-octane pickups deliver a full and enriched harmonic quality that's great for rhythm and solo playing alike. DiMarzio designed their D Activator pickups to eliminate the sterile edginess that plagues many active pickups. The bottom line is that they deliver all the advantages of active pickups without the drawbacks. Plus, these pickups don't require batteries! What's more, their massive headroom permits you to pick as aggressively as you want without flattening your signal. The guitarists here at Sweetwater have found these pickups to have exceptionally balanced volume between the neck and bridge — you can switch between the two positions with zero drops in volume.

Incredibly fast Wizard II neck

One of Ibanez’s fastest necks to date, the 5-piece maple/walnut Wizard II neck on the Iron Label RG Baritone is an absolute pleasure to play. This slim and super-comfortable neck lets you pull off lightning-fast runs, arpeggios, and hammer-ons with ease, but it still gives you the substance you need for fretting chords. Capping the neck is a 24-fret ebony fingerboard that’s loaded with jumbo frets that are perfect for everything from wide bends to all manner of low-tuned djent technicality. From the first time you put your hands on the Ibanez Iron Label RG Baritone’s Wizard II neck, you’ll know you’ve got a guitar that was built with performance in mind.

Fixed bridge stability for rock-solid tuning

The Ibanez Iron Label RG Baritone sports a fixed Mono-rail bridge, which gives you the peace of mind that comes from rock-solid tuning stability. From standard baritone to even lower tunings, your guitar's pitch will remain more stable, and the string tension will feel more consistent. Changing tunings during a gig goes much faster compared to messing with a vibrato bridge and dealing with locking nuts. Plus, you’ll enjoy increased sustain and a fatter overall tone due to the way the mono-rail bridges transfer the string's energy directly to the guitar's body.

Ibanez Iron Label RG Baritone Electric Guitar Features:

Ibanez love
The guitarist is favorite guitar Ibanez 08
God of Thunder!
Wow! What an absolute blast! This guitar is ballsy, easy and fun to play, crafted beautifully, and mine was set up perfectly out of the box! My sales associate Will was amazing as usual...couldn't be happier with the guitar and the stellar Sweetwater transaction!
Ibanez Iron Label RG Baritone
This guitar is extremely nice to play. The instrument has a really solid feel and has a surprisingly low action despite being a baritone. The scale length and size of the string holes and tuners also allow for a lot of versatility. When I first started looking into buying a baritone, I wanted to play a mix of different songs, as well as make a mix of different music in a mix of different tunings. I couldn't decide between the Gretch baritone, the Sub Zero, the Fender Squire baritone, or this guitar. One thing that worried me is the issue of scale length, particularly if you are familiar with the EAEADF# tuning (also known as the Loathe tuning). You'll know that they use a baritone with a 30" scale length and use a .105 gauge string for their low E.

I've found if you use an 8-string .80-.09 and trash the two highest strings, you (with enough luck) can
You can even play in C#-A-E-A-D-F# (which is lower than the aforementioned tuning) and A-E-A-D-G-B (drop A, which is much higher) without making any modifications to the guitar. Unlike me, I wouldn't recommend switching between these tunings too frequently, as it could lead to string breakage. I've only experienced that once.

The only gripes I have about this guitar are the lack of fretboard inlays (of course you still have the lumenlays on the side of the neck) and that it is a fingerprint magnet. Other than that, it is perfect.

I have been very happy with my purchase and haven't been able to go longer than two days without playing this guitar in the last 9 months. If you're considering pulling the trigger on this one, do it.
Excellent baritone, disagree with aforementioned tuner issues
I don't agree with the people saying the tuners don't fit thick strings. I have had 72 and 80 gauge on there with no issues whatsoever and most heavy guitar strings are tapered anyway. The tuners get shorter towards the top of the headstock but keep in mind that these are locking tuners that don't need multiple windings that would require the taller height of a standard tuner post. So unless you are trying to put specifically a bass string thru it, they should fit fine.

The pickups sound great, the aesthetic is great, it feels amazing on higher frets. If what you want is a 6 string baritone, this guitar definitely won't disappoint!
Awesome instrument!
Spec wise, this is everything you need. The neck is super stable and the satin finish is just the right kind of slick. The wider nut width is perfect for the larger strings. I have this tuned in A standard. My biggest string is a 74. It just barely slides in. If you are going to go bigger, the tuners will need to be swapped around as mentioned by other reviewers.
My string set is 15 and 20 D'Addario NYXL and 28, 42, 56, and 74 Elixir Nanoweb.
