A “Passenger” of Down-tuned Metal Mastery

When it comes to alternative heavy metal, Stephen Carpenter’s masterful rhythmic creations and deadly lead lines within the Deftones discography reign supreme. Thankfully, ESP agrees. Enter the SC-608: a 1-to-1 clone of Steph’s everyday baritone axe, built to his specifications for utmost authenticity and performance. The SC-608 leaves no detail behind, arming you with a 27-inch baritone scale, a highly maneuverable 3-piece maple neck, signature Fishman Fluence pickups, and more. Likewise, onboard ESP appointments, including a Hipshot tailpiece, LTD locking tuning machines, a molded nut, and a signature finish, ensure high-performance visuals to match. Take it from Sweetwater’s staunchest ’Toners: with the LTD Stephen Carpenter SC-608 8-string baritone in your collection, potential is all but “Entombed.”

Built to Steph’s exact specifications

An 8-string baritone electric guitar needs to facilitate maximum comfort and control. Spec’d by the man himself, the SC-608 is more than capable of handling any down-tuned performance while remaining navigable and comfortable in the hands of any discerning player. Fit with a 3-piece maple neck that boasts a Thin-U profile and neck-through construction, the SC-608 allows you to make light work of leads and riffs up and down the entire fretboard, which boasts dot-style side markers to aid in accuracy as you tread from fret to fret. In conjunction with its exceptional instrument design, the SC-608 is topped off with a gorgeous gloss finish that complements Steph’s iconic onstage aesthetics.

High performance, low “Risk”

Every ESP comes with its collection of elite ESP hardware, and the LTD Stephen Carpenter SC-608 is no different. Up top, complementary black hardware and LTD locking tuning machines ensure utmost intonation support in the face of any stage or studio session. Likewise, a Hipshot tailpiece with a string-through construction and a molded nut guarantee an authentic and comfortable playing field. From heel to headstock, every facet onboard the SC-608 ensures you’ll be more than prepared to handle the “Tempest” of tones you’ll find within.

“Be Quiet and Drive”

From Adrenaline to Ohms, Stephen Carpenter has brought forth countless heavy metal rhythms and riffs to the table. After countless hours of collaboration with Steph, ESP loaded the SC-608 with a pair of his signature Fishman Fluence pickups — primed and ready to mastermind any down-tuned tone with ease via push-pull controls and a 3-way pickup switch. While best utilized in metal, punk, and rock-oriented distortion setups, there’s more than enough power within these pickups to tackle any genre or playing style. Take one listen to the SC-608’s Fishman Fluence pickups for yourself, and you’ll immediately know that they were meant to crunch.

Reviews

2025 LTD SC608
As usual LTD/ESP knocked it out of the park with
the new SC608B. It's a monster of a guitar, plays amazingly well and it's overall execution of quality is remarkable.
The sound from the new version of the Stephan Carpenter signature Fishman pickups is much warmer. The luminlay inserts are a nice touch on the pickups as well. I wish the side dots were luminlay but oh well. Case is very nice as usual.
The color Yellow is much better in person. It has a darker hue making it closer to a school bus than a highlighter.
Overall the only complaint is with FedEx. Sweetwater packaged it very well but it wasn't delivered until a day later. Not the end of the world but when you have to sign for something and you take the day off of work and it doesn't show it's upsetting.
And tracking is antiquated by today's standards IMO.
I wish Sweetwater didn't use FedEx.
It's the only that negative out of the whole experience really. Sweetwater's customer service is second to none.
I have ordered from them many times over the years.
