A Ukulele Only Martin Could Make

Applying their decades worth of ukulele building expertise to their latest lines of Hawaiian instruments, Martin has outfitted this T1 Tenor Ukulele with superb FSC-certified tonewood trappings. These tonewoods include a sapele body and sipo neck that offer superb playability and exhibit warm, rich tones with tantalizing looks to match. Sweetwater strummers concur, it sounds every bit as good as it looks; and that ebony fingerboard really adds something to fawn over. Whether you need a new companion for those beach-filled summer nights or want to add a little serendipity to your next recording, the sustainably sourced T1 Tenor Ukulele FSC will follow you there!

Tonewoods with rich voicing

Take a tone-filled dive into the world of the Martin T1 Tenor Ukulele FSC and you’ll find delightful sound that follows suit with any chord or fingerpicking style you use. Much like the tones of mahogany, these tonewoods will reverberate with warm, woody richness. The sipo neck capped with ebony adds a nice contrast to the sapele body in both tone and visuals.

Martin’s tenor body shape

Whether it’s the stage, the studio, or soaking up sun at the beach, Martin’s ukuleles deliver those classic Hawaiian tones coveted by players of all stripes. The Martin T1 Tenor Ukulele FSC’s tenor body, being the largest model offered, features the most volume and tonal projection. Since 1929, Martin’s tenor ukuleles have flown off their warehouse shelves, becoming instant favorites in homes all around the world. This comfortable body shape and size are similar to a travel-sized guitar, making this ukulele fantastic for a wide range of applications — Sweetwater musicians have found they sound great in the studio! Top it off with an applied dovetail neck joint and hands-on, real human craftsmanship and you've got a ukulele with incredible build quality ready to traipse through life with you.

FSC-certified construction

With tonewood resources dwindling, Martin is doing their part to preserve this valuable resource. To do that without compromising their storied build quality, Martin leaned on the expertise of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) to procure sustainably sourced tonewoods. FSC works with local growers and sawmills to ethically harvest resources, promote worker's rights and employment conditions, protect indigenous peoples' rights, and much more. Forest products that meet FSC standards are recognized as FSC-certified. By using FSC-certified tonewoods for the T1 Tenor Ukulele FSC, Martin is making a serious step forward in ethical instrument production. And players can own a world-class ukulele guilt free.

Martin T1 Tenor FSC Ukulele Features:

  • Sapele body offers tones similar to mahogany, with warm, rich, and woody voice
  • Sipo neck with applied dovetail neck joint adds resonance to body
  • Ebony fingerboard adds a comfortable fretting surface
  • Tenor body shape offers lots of projection and volume and plays comfortably
  • Ethically harvested FSC-certified tonewoods conserve environmental resources
  • Ratio tuners keep your strings tuned at the beach and in the studio

Reviews

I really enjoy playing this uke!
I really enjoy playing this uke! Although the action was a little too high for me upon arrival, I had it dropped, and now the uke plays beautifully. It feels good in my hands, the craftsmanship is excellent, and it has a sweet tone.
For A Martin it should be better!
Honestly I wanted to love this ukelele! After all, it's a Martin! The truth is that it lacks in playability compared to other much less expensive ukeleles that I own. I actually have a Donner laminate that is more playable than this instrument was out of the box! When I recieved this instrument the action was remarkably high for such a "high end" instrument brand! I have lowered the action on a few cheaper ukeleles so I proceeded to do the same on this one as well. Although I really felt like for $ you ought to receive a pretty darn playable instrument out of the box I decided to give it a go as it is a Martin and it "ought" to be a very playable instrument! I dropped the action as low as I reasonably could and it did improve, but I still found my Kala to be much more playable than this Martin. WTF! This thing is twice the cost and has such a glowing reputation! It does have nice tone, but due to its playability challenges I do not think this Martin is a good value! You can find much more playable instruments for FAR less money! Shame on you Martin!
