Gorgeous Mahogany-bodied Tenor Uke

Kala’s Contour Series of ukuleles brings beauty, deluxe build quality, and comfortable playability to the table for all tenor ukulele players. Its body of 100% solid mahogany not only offers a striking natural wood grain, but a dark and resonant tone to go with. With a well-sustaining and “D”-carved neck of mahogany, topped by a slab of gorgeous ebony with pearl shell inlays, Sweetwater players have found navigation up and down the instrument's entire scale length to feel both traditional and smooth in hand. A real bone nut and saddle pairing, along with a set of black chrome open gear tuners, presents fabulous natural string response and performance dependability to boot. Accented by its stunning rosewood body binding, a comfortably beveled lower bout, and a unique Eclipse rosette, the Contour Series tenor ukulele checks all the right boxes for performing ukulelists.

Structured for sonic success

The premium tonewood foundation of Kala’s Contour Series is nothing short of spectacular. This uke comes structured with a body comprising 100% mahogany wood, resulting in a darker tone with unparalleled sustain. Its marvelous natural grain garners quite a bit of head-turning attention, too! The mahogany neck of the Contour Series tenor ukulele follows a “D”-shaped profile that makes for a solid and traditional feel while playing. Its naturally resonant consistency makes it a fantastic choice as well, preserving the sustain and tonal complexity of each note with absolute ease. An ebony fingerboard sits atop the neck, offering plenty of surface area for smooth and inspired roving and chording.

Plays like a dream

Kala outfitted the Contour Series with a battery of components designed to instill performance confidence in all players while enhancing the incredible natural tone of your ukulele. To begin, a redesigned slotted headstock comes engineered to supply easier string and tuning adjustments to aid in its reliable intonation so you’ll stay sounding your very best. Additionally, a real bone nut and saddle enable this uke’s strings to respond with a more natural tonality than other processed components — this means that whether you’re up onstage or tracking a tune in the studio, you’ve got the truly traditional uke tones to back you up. Add in a contoured bevel at the lower bout, and superior playing comfort joins in on the action!

Styled to stun

Sound? Check. Playability? Check. Now it’s on to the looks, and Contour Series instruments are dazzling. Aside from its spectacular natural body grain, you’ll find elements across this uke that show its deluxe detail. Rosewood binds and accents the entire body with a darkened charm, and a beautiful 2-tone Eclipse rosette tosses in a dash of ornate charm. You’ll also appreciate the handsome glow of pearl shell inlays at the fingerboard and headstock, in addition to a set of vintage-style open-gear tuning machines that come finished in elegant black chrome.

Reviews

Solid Sounding Uke
I've played ukulele for over a decade now and have used it as such a great writing tool. I've always like to bring it out for solo performances for a few songs. Kala and Lanakai are the two brands Ive always gravitated towards. All my previous ukes have electronics and sound great live but I noticed when trying to record them in the studio with sensitive mics certain notes sometimes would buzz and rattle wires/ electronics or the intonation wasn't always great past the 5th or 6th frett. I guess most of the ukes I bought were 350 dollars or less with electronics. This particular Kala with no electronics was the perfect addition to my uke collection and was exactly what I wanted and needed for recording in studio. Ive already used it record 3 songs. I really like the headstock on this mahogany tenor uke too along with the beveled edge where you're arm rests! The neck is a little thicker than I expected but I think that is part of the solid sound to this awesome instrument produces. I'd recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their game on recording ukulele or that just want to upgrade from a starter uke.
