A Musically Flexible, Hand-hammered Ride

Paiste cymbals have amazed the drumming world for over 100 years with their clarity, rich and brassy voice, and remarkable sustain — not to mention their handcrafted quality. The Paiste Signature Dark Energy Ride Mark I carries on that lineage with an extraordinarily wide-ranging voice and responsive but controllable feel that has immediately caught the attention of Sweetwater drummers. On its shimmery hand-turned bell, across its pneumatically and hand-hammered bow, and along its hand-trued edges, the Paiste Signature Dark Energy Ride Mk I responds to the drummer's touch with lively intensity and a pronounced, crisp stick sound. Drier and darker than its Mk II sibling, the Mk I is a medium-weight cymbal with a medium volume, a medium sustain, and an integrated, dark bell tone that also provides for excellent ride functionality.

Paiste Signature Dark Energy Ride Mark I Cymbal Features:

  • Medium-weight ride contributes medium volume to the percussion mix
  • Hand-trued edges and hand-hammered bow produce complex, dark, punchy wash
  • Silvery, spanky ping hangs on with medium sustain and provides good ride functionality
  • Extra-versatile ride works well in myriad applications, even modern blended-genre styles
  • Mark I version tends to be drier and darker — particularly the bell and ping sounds

Reviews

Everything I was looking for.
I just got this 22" Dark Energy Ride this morning and have played it for a half an hour or so. It is exactly what I was hoping for. Not a rockers cymbals for sure but if you're jazz man, funk or soul musician, this is the one. Silky smooth wash, excellent click and great stick on the bow. The bell is great and it even has a "dark" characteristic to it if that's possible. I usually play a 22" Blue Bell and the weight is very close. The sound however is dramatically different. This is an instant favorite. I did play an 18" a friend has and loved it so I had a good idea going in that this was a cymbals I'd like. Well I was right. Highly recommend this piece.
Music background: 56 years kit drumming and percussion.
Holy moly
This has to be the best ride ever. Can play it quietly and be jazz. Can slam it a little and get a great rock/fusion sound. Not great for metal id say. But I play TOOL a lot and it sounds unreal through my logic recordings.

PAISTE FOR LIFE!
