Compact maple shell with ultra-quiet response
Creating such a compact snare drum was no easy task, but the brilliant designers at Pearl went above and beyond the challenge. Its solid 8-ply, 10mm maple shell measures only 2.5 inches deep, which allows it to produce a whisper-quiet tone and response that meets the growing demand for solo, practice, and audition drums. Despite its small size, Sweetwater drummers find this to be a highly capable performance snare that produces a brilliant and sophisticated tone that cuts through any orchestra or symphonic band.
Unique hardware and snare assembly
To accommodate for its smaller size, a new single-point lug system was created specifically for the Pancake. Each lug sports stainless steel rods with claw hooks that steadily hold the single-flange nickel hoops in place. The compact design also brings a reimagined Piccolo Triad Silent Strainer, which provides three individual snare adjusters for optimal fine-tuning for the snare wires.
