Cutting-edge ultra-large-format sensor
The URSA Cine 17K 65 features a cutting-edge sensor that captures ultra-high-quality cinematic images at resolutions from 4K to 17K. Measuring 50.8mm x 23.3mm, this ultra-large-format 65mm sensor builds on Blackmagic’s acclaimed CMOS technology with larger photo sites that allow for an incredible 16 stops of dynamic range at effective resolutions up to 140.8 megapixels (17,520 x 8,040). The sensor’s proprietary RGBW architecture hosts equal quantities of red, green, and blue pixels, optimizing it to render gorgeously rich colors at all resolutions and to provide groundbreaking image quality and flexibility. Blackmagic Generation 6 Color Science features dual 3D LUT processors for different outputs and an additional 3D LUT for the SMPTE-2110 output. The sensor supports project frame rates of 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60 fps, with the maximum frame rate dependent on the selected resolution. The bottom line is that the URSA Cine lets you capture more detail with a wider dynamic range than ever before. And with in-sensor scaling, you can record at all resolutions without cropping!
Perfection on the set
The URSA Cine is built to exceed the requirements of the most demanding high-end productions. Blackmagic’s team meticulously calibrated the camera body's weight distribution for ergonomic perfection. With a tough magnesium alloy chassis and a lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite skin, you’ll move quickly on set. Moreover, backlit soft-touch buttons make controls easy to see in all lighting conditions, and a high-resolution 5-inch, fully articulating fold-out touchscreen lets you review shots and address camera settings. The large-format sensor in the URSA Cine 17K 65 gives directors maximum flexibility in choosing aspect ratios, lenses, and delivery formats for their projects. The full sensor area provides a magnificent 17K 2.2:1 open-gate image that lets you reframe your shots in post. Use that expansive sensor area to shoot anamorphic and deliver in an array of aspect ratios. Plus, you can shoot in 4K, 8K, or 12K using the entire sensor without cropping, while retaining your lenses’ full available field of view.
