Versatile Small-diaphragm Condenser Mic

The sE Electronics sE7 is a small-diaphragm, back-electret condenser microphone equally suitable for the studio as it is for the stage. Its optimized acoustic design, discrete Class A circuitry, and transformerless output work in tandem to deliver a clear, natural sound at all frequencies on any source. In fact, sound pros at Sweetwater find that the signal path’s lack of ICs or transformers makes this mic a natural for recording a range of sounds. From the subtle expression of strings, guitars, pianos, and woodwinds to the more raucous sounds of electric guitars and percussion, the sE7 captures the vitality and nuance of each instrument with equal aplomb.

High-end features on a working musician's mic

With the sE7, sE Electronics not only designed a great-sounding mic but also included features found on world-class microphones. A 6dB/octave 80Hz highpass filter lets you roll off unwanted mud and rumble. Meanwhile, the 20dB pre-attenuation pad increases the mic's impressive usefulness by letting you mic more boisterous sources, like toms, snares, and electric guitars. The sE7's class-leading SPL handling capability and dynamic range ensure that you will capture every nuance of these sources without fear of overload. Likewise, the high-quality build is what you expect from sE and includes a gold-plated XLR connector for optimal signal integrity, even over repeated use.

sE Electronics sE7 Features:

  • Innovative back-electret design delivers detailed, balanced sound and superior transient response
  • High-quality condenser capsule delivers balanced, neutral sound
  • Ultra-thin diaphragm provides excellent transient response
  • Versatile cardioid polar pattern is ideal for a range of studio and onstage applications
  • Discrete Class A circuitry with class-leading low self-noise
  • Transformerless design delivers crystal-clear sound quality
  • Switchable 20dB pre-attenuation pad provides extended dynamic range, enables close-miking of loud sources, and prevents preamp overload
  • Maximum SPL (0.5% THD): 136/156dB (0/20dB pad)
  • Switchable 80Hz, 6dB/octave highpass filter eliminates low-frequency rumble and compensates for proximity effect
  • Gold-plated XLR connector for reliable, loss-free signal connection
  • All-metal housing for rejection of noise and electrical interference
  • High-quality finish ensures a great look for many years
  • Includes mic clip (with thread adapter) and windscreen

Cymbal mic
The SE7 is just the perfect mic for my Sweet K crash ...well used cymbal. Very bright, I like the options if needed.
Looking forward to micing the underside of all my cymbals in a live performance.

Thanks guys for selling great products.

My personal thanks to Austin Z. for all his suggestions and tech knowledge!!

Best in its class!

SE makes great stuff and this is no exception. for $ you get a good sounding mic PLUS the extra features of a pad and a lo-cut filter. I work in live sound and these are perfect for cymbals, mando, banjo, acoustic, etc. Worth every penny and more.

SE7
Great mic for acoustic guitar recording !
Music background: Bassist, Sound Engineer.
just ran it though its paces
Just got the SE7 in the mail today. I immediately plugged it in and flipped switches and did all of the new toy stuff. I used the hi-pass roll off and 20db pad and gave it a whirl for vocals. Yes, I'm sure that's not the intended purpose of the mic but it did well with the windscreen on. I put the switch back to 0db and turned off the hi-pass switch and it was very clear on my acoustic guitar. The sound was natural and uncolored as it should be. I can't find anything I don't like about it. It seems like a stout little mic. The clip seems very sturdy as well.
To the guy at Sweetwater that called (I don't remember your name) you sir are awesome! My wife was being funny and requested Laffy Taffy in our candy bag. He called and told me they could make sure we got all Laffy Taffy. I told him she was trying to be funny. His attention to the stupid details impressed me. And THIS is why I keep buying gear from Sweetwater. Thank you for your stellar customer service!!
