Very Pleased

I received the micKing 1100 I ordered and set it up with my U87Ai and its shock mount. Fully extended I trust the stand with the good mics. I was impressed with the build quality and stability. Excellent fit and finish on all parts.

Built Like a Tank!

I didn't want to spend so much on a mic stand, but the cheaper special I bought simply couldn't hold my Shure SM-58S over the piano keyboard at all. No matter how much I tightened it (and I was able to apply some strength), the special would droop. I was worried about both the mic and the finish of the brand new Yamaha CLP-785 digital piano.

So, I researched the BEST mic stands and quickly found Latch Lake. I read about their locking mechanisms on their website, and was convinced by the description and the reviews that this could hold a stage mic properly as people were also using these stands for much heavier large capsule condensers.

$ is a lot for a mic stand, but how much is peace of mind worth? I set up the stand with the SM-58 and it holds it rock-steady, no worries. I'm not worried that I will damage the mic or the piano finish, because it's over-engineered for the job which for my needs is just right. I definitely don't want to be fighting the mic stand or having to tighten it like crazy only to have it still fail, either unattended or mid-performance.

Highly-recommended. You won't need it for normal applications, but if you need an extended boom (such as over a piano) then it's a great choice.

Heavy duty!

Wow! I had never encountered a mic stand this heavy and sturdy! Holds my AEA R44CE perfectly! Absolutely no chance it is going to move, even if bumped. Fabulous and useful product!

Excellent mic stand

I own some vintage Atlas mic stands that are probably 40 years old. They are sturdy and made of steel with cast iron bases. I inherited them from a friend and still use them in my studio. The old Atlas stands are reliable and sturdy. The adjustments are mechanically sound unlike most of my newer stands which have mostly plastic parts.
I recently purchased a very nice microphone for the studio. I invested in a mic that would be the go to for vocals and critical sources. It is large and heavy and extremely well made and immediately I realized I needed a stand that I could rely on for the mic.

After a search for better made sturdy mic stands on the Sweetwater web site I found Latch Lake stands. I watched the video and was immediately impressed with the build features. I purchased the Latch Lake 2200 and it is as good as advertised. The build quality and the clamping mechanisms and adjustments are excellent. I must say that at $500 I was at first a little hesitant but once assembled and with my mic mounted I was more than impressed.

This brings me to my next mic stand purchase the Latch Lake 1100. I was using some older not so well made overhead stands and decided they needed to be replaced. Without hesitance I purchased two of the micKing 1100 tripod stands. They are every bit as impressive as the 2200 and for my purpose work perfectly in my space.

With the innovative clamping mechanisms and the steel parts I expect these stands to be around and functional in 40 years.

This is a serious mic stand

I needed a mic stand that I could use to safely mount a mic over several keyboards. I had a standard stand before but I was worried that I would knock the mic over and have it land somewhere really bad. This stand is very heavy duty, solid, and adjustable. I'm no longer worried at all about knocking my mic over or damaging expensive gear. Great product, Latch Lake!
