Compact Monitors with ARC Room Calibration Technology

IK Multimedia's iLoud MTM powered studio monitors deliver impressively detailed sound for their compact size — and with built-in ARC room calibration technology, they'll compensate for acoustic deficiencies in your room for the most accurate monitoring experience possible. Thanks to the included tiltable stand, iLoud MTM monitors are perfect for desktop use in space-challenged studio spaces. And with phase coherency within +/- 15° from 200Hz to 20kHz, you get a natural sound that translates to better mixes. Whether you're producing music, voice-overs, podcasts, or anything else, you can trust your mixes created with IK Multimedia iLoud MTM powered studio monitors.

Tunes to your room with built-in ARC Room Calibration

IK Multimedia's ARC Room Calibration system earned acclaim for its ability to compensate any monitoring system for acoustic deficiencies in any room. Now that technology is built directly into the iLoud MTM powered studio monitor, enabling a more accurate monitoring experience in less than perfect rooms. Simply connect the included calibration microphone, put it in your mix position, and run the calibration routine. If you rearrange your studio, add furniture, or move to a different room, simply run the calibration again for the flattest frequency response and best phase coherency.

Precise positioning with tiltable stand

Proper monitor placement includes making sure your monitors' tweeters are aimed directly at you, not above or below your head. IK Multimedia iLoud MTM monitors make this easy, with their included tiltable base. With a 0 – 20-degree tilt range, you can place iLoud MTM monitors on your desktop and aim them directly at your mix position.

Big sound from compact 2-way monitors

At Sweetwater, we're impressed with the sonic details you'll hear with iLoud MTM monitors. Whether we're talking frequency response or phase coherency, these monitors deliver. Driven with 100 watts RMS per speaker (70 watts for LF drivers and 30 watts for the HF driver), iLoud MTM's dual 3.5" woofers and 1" back-chamber-loaded tweeter deliver impressive SPLs (103dB at 1 meter) and bass response. DSP-based EQ settings allow you to tweak your sound further for specific applications or mixing spaces.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Small, but Big

Great sound in such a small package!

One Year and Still Going Strong

I've had these monitors a year now and after reading some of the one star reviews I thought I might clear some things up based on my experience.
Both monitors worked fine for a few months but I did have the issue with the purple light, shutting down and popping on start up. It was only one speaker. IK was very quick to respond and sent me a replacement in a timely manner. I have since had no issues at all.
I feel I've learned a lot about mixing since then and these monitors are a direct result. In my opinion the clipping and distortion is a good thing because it helps zero in on those frequencies that are pushing them too hard. I don't have a degree in acoustic science and I'm not a professional engineer by any stretch of the imagination. One thing I do know... if I can make them sound good they will translate pretty well.
I wonder if some of these one star reviews are a result of not just taking the time to say "maybe it's something I'm doing wrong." If you push them too hard, they will clip, distort and possibly shut down.
I really hope that IK will come out with a sub (with ARC) to match these babies. I can really see that as a stellar system and I think it would be a big seller.
The ARC is the main reason I chose these monitors.
I read a ton of online articles about room acoustics and finally came to the reality that the size and amount of treatment needed would not be possible in my tiny room. So these really fit the bill. They don't take up a lot of room and with ARC I don't have to crazy with treatment.

Cool compact speaker. Perfect for intermediate producers or as a small monitor setup

The fact this comes with the arc microphone and can calibrate itself is awesome. You can get pretty good bass down to 40hz, the only drawbacks being they don't get too loud and the bass will start chuffing at high volumes. If you keep these speakers at decent volumes for mixing and sound production you won't be disappointed. People are also impressed that such a large sound and great imaging comes from these tiny speakers.

Exceptional

These are arguably the best monitors I've ever used. Sure, they don't get super loud, but they're incredibly balanced at lower volumes. They do infact go down to 40hz and it's a really tight and clear 40hz. Even without a sub! It doesn't make any sense. They're transparent, and the calibration is decent though I'm excited to try these with sonar works and also potentially hooking them up to a sub to see what else they can do. I've never been happier with how my mixes are translating, especially the low end! Sure, if I had an amazing room to mix in, It wouldn't matter what speakers I use. But since my mix room is less than ideal, these are by far the best monitors I've used because I get consistent results out of them. If you aren't mixing in a professionally designed and built out mix room, don't waste your money on crazy monitors. In such a situation, these are about as good as any other monitors that cost 5-10 times what these do. I wouldn't be surprised if these become an industry standard, if they aren't already.
The relative portability is also a huge plus. I took them overseas and used them to mix a movie soundtrack in a less than ideal situation and everything sounds amazing! I'm considering retiring my focals!

Just buy them.

These speakers are an experience.

First, lets just nip the one negative thing about them in the bud: the bass extension can reach 40hz as advertised, but it's weak. These are not replacements for full size 8" monitors nor a one-stop solution for big room audio in a small package.

But with a little help, these things hit another level for workstation/desk audio. I have them hooked up through a relatively budget Behringer NKST S10 subwoofer with the crossover set at around 80hz, and they're simply magical. Granted it's only when sitting in the relatively small sweet spot seated at my workstation, but I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that the only other time I've ever heard a soundstage this wide, deep, and lush was when I was when I once got to hear a tradeshow demo of a quarter-million dollar McIntosh system. I kid you not, for the last 24 hours with this setup I've been repeatedly getting emotional, closing my eyes and tearing up at tracks I thought were good, only to discover how much I had been missing! I've only ever experienced being moved by sound like this from live shows.

From the tiniest synth modulations in Deadmau5 - Strobe, to the sound of individual piano dampers on FKJ - Ylang Ylang, to feint voices in the crowd between sets in John Mayer's Where the Light Is live album. So much detail I never heard before in tracks I've been listening to for years, and I thought I had a decent reference setup with the old M-Audios these replaced. The "DSP" (typically a dirty word in reference audio, I know) is unreal in how it reads your room, practically negates the need for acoustic treatment, and creates a near infinite soundstage around you while still maintaining a beautifully "flat" recreation of the material. Close your eyes and the speakers disappear.

Now are these for a pro studio? Of course not. They're very near field and need a subwoofer to shore up the low end. They're for one person at a time, but once they're dialed in that one person can truly work at a professional grade with these. And even if you're not into music or video production, I'd recommend these to anyone who does long days of desk work and can play tunes without headphones (e.g., work from home types like me). They're an absolute joy, especially for the price and when compared to every other decent speaker option at this size. You could easily spend thousands and take up many times the space trying to come close to how these sound when tuned to your workspace and paired with a reliable sub.
