Reviews

Great instrument! Sounds amazing!
I just got into playing recorder, this is my first recorder and after a couple weeks its no problem playing it! I am a cellist and have long fingers, so stretching for the holes were not a problem for me, but they do not seem that far away for most people with a bit of practice. The sound is amazing, and would definitely recommend this recorder. I was comparing this with the Arlous, and went for the brand here, and was not disappointed! Would recommend buying some extra recorder cream, but it does come with some! Very good recorder, and I would highly reccomend.

Amazing Intermediate Recorder!
The tenor is responsive and handles well. The ABS Plastic does not impact tone or timbre and the intonation for all of the notes is very good! All of the notes speak well and there is room for some dynamic control throughout the octaves. It comfortably achieves an octave and a 6th range and is able to achieve 2 octaves. The stretch in both hands is comfortable, though people with really small hands may have a bit of discomfort. The size is also easily transportable, being very lightweight and durable.
Amazing Sound
This is my first tenor recorder and I absolutely love it! It is very well-made and the sound is beautiful. I'm having fun learning how to play it. If you don't have long fingers though, you might want to stick with the soprano.
Great value in tenor recorder
I am primariily a string (guitar and more recently lute) player. I have had a C soprano recorder for some time, and use it to play the voice part (badly) or Renaissance songs. I wannted a C tenor (voiced an octave lower) to reach some of the low notes. Yamaha has an excellent reputation in plastic recorders, so I thought at the price, why not. Plastic recorders have evolved and no longer sound like shrill toys, at least in the hands of a competent player. They sound surprisingly rich and warm. I would say Yamaha is one of, maybe THE, leading maker of plastic recorders.
Delivery was on schedule.
If you are familiar with the much more common C soprano, the tenor is much larger (I think from physics the vibrating air column has to be twice as long). The stretches are physically demanding. On this one, there is a key to play the low C so you don't have to cover the hole with your right pinky. Actually it is a double key, which lets you get C# as well. You need good fingering and breathing technique to get clean notes and true intonation, particularly in the lowest notes. I knew all this going in. After a little over a week, I can, after a warmup, play a scale and some simple melodies, but I have a long way to go.
This is not a beginner recorder. If you are starting out, get a C soprano. The C soprano yamaha in this same plastic line has an equally excellent reputation, and Sweetwater has it at a fair price. Now I have to be talked out of an alto (voiced in F).
