LATCH LAKE RULES! NOT CHEAP, NOT CHEAPLY MADE, THE BEST!

I love these Latch Lake boom arms. I own them in 12", 18" and 24". They are amazing problem solvers.

I record tube amplifiers feeding Marshall cabinets filled with Celestion speakers. I need four microphones for each mono track, I sum the mic's together in my Neve mixer and feed them to mono tracks. To get the best sound I need to get the microphones placed with minimum phase cancellation between them. With Xtra boom arms it is easy to add microphones to a vertical stand, I often have four mics hanging off one stand using these.

These booms hold their position, when adjusted correctly they don't sag or droop or lose their position. A single boom can hold an eight pound microphone up and solidly, exactly where you placed it.

If you're tired of using low priced and low quality mic stand accessories give the Xtra Boom a try. Experience the recording joy this hardware offers.

I love this thing!

I love my Latch Lake mic stand. It's STURDY and super easy to set up and adjust to whatever position needed. The extra boom is perfect for a 2nd mic. Now I don't have to waste precious time switching mics back and forth. It's all ready to go when I want to record.

Great value!

Crazy good, just like all the Latch Lake stands I own, but really a good value! Attach one or several to one of their stands, stand back, and pat yourself on the back for making a really wise choice. I can't get enough of those Latch Lake products!

Nice piece of gear

This is a pretty nice piece of gear. I use it to hold a second mic on my mic stand (for my guitar). Attaching the Xtra Boom is simple and straightforward. The connection to the mic stand is solid and unmoving. Adjusting both the length and the angle of the boom is done simultaneously with a simple adjustable cam lever. I've only had it a few weeks at this point but the build quality seems pretty high. Once you have the cam lever adjusted to a good tension this arm won't move unless you want it to. It is very solid.

I have noticed a couple issues. First, there are times, after leaving the arm in the same position for a while, when I release the cam lever and it takes a little gentle rocking to get the friction plates to release. It could just be that I have the cam lever adjusted to tightly so that might be user error. I'll try more later and see if I can make it behave better. I'll update this review with my experiences. Second, once the Xtra Boom is attached to the mic stand there is no way to rotate it perpendicular to the friction plates. You have to either loosen the mic stand attachment, turn it, and then tighten it again, or you can rotate the mic stand itself.
