Striking Sound That Won't Fade

D’Addario’s XT strings are among the longest lasting we’ve used here at Sweetwater. Descended from the company's shuttered EXP strings line, XT strings leverage a thin, ultra-durable coating applied to the wrap wire before assembly. And we do mean thin — it feels akin to a regular uncoated string. XT strings employ D’Addario’s proprietary high-carbon NY Steel core and Fusion Twist technology, ensuring that they bend farther and stay in tune better — even under the duress of a live performance. XT strings also boast nickel-plated windings with enhanced magnetic properties for increased output and juiced midrange. You’ll appreciate the long life and present sound that you get out of D’Addario’s XT electric guitar strings.

The evolution of XT strings

During their lifespan, EXP strings enjoyed a loyal following here at Sweetwater. Now, EXP strings have leveled up to become XT acoustic guitar strings, the next evolution of D’Addario’s world-renowned treated strings. Each string receives a groundbreaking coating for twice the protection. And since the coating is so thin, each string rings out just as loudly and clearly as an uncoated string does. If you're a fan of EXP strings, then you will love D’Addario XT strings.

The right tone for everyone

D’Addario believes that every acoustic guitar player should have a set of strings that match their sonic needs. That’s why they build strings with a range of construction methods and materials. Whether you go with the brightest 80/20 Bronze strings, the mellowest Silk & Steels, or anywhere in between, D’Addario has the perfect sound for everyone. Want to learn more? Hex-core wounds, Fusion Twist steels

Inside each roundwound string in this lies an NY Steel hexagonal core — the same as you'll find on a set of your favorite NYXLs. This angular core gives the wrap wire more surface to grab on to, yielding better tone and intonation. Plain steels in this set also feature D'Addario's Fusion Twist technology. This process prevents slack in the twist, resulting in greater resistance against detuning and breaking.

D’Addario: innovative strings since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

Reviews

The Best Strings I’ve Ever Played!
First, I should note that I did not purchase this set of strings from Sweetwater. I was part of the a D’Addario’s beta testing program and got to try out a set before they are released. With that said, I purchase all of my strings from Sweetwater and will continue to purchase these. But I wanted to give them a review here so that I could share my experience with other Sweetwater customers.

I’ve been playing D’Addario strings exclusively for over 25 years, particularly the EXL series. When the NYXL series was released, it was a huge game changer with their increased breakage resistance, more linear feel when bending, and fuller tone. The XT series takes them one step further. They contain the exact strength, feel, and tone as the NYXL’s, but with the added benefit of a proprietary corrosion resistant coating.

The set that I received from D’Addario has been on one of my main guitars for nearly 3 months now, and I’m not BS’ing you, they feel, look, and sound good as the day I installed them (see the included photo).

These are without a doubt the best strings that I’ve ever played and I encourage every guitar player to give these a try. Believe the hype! These are absolutely amazing strings!
Music background: Guitar player since 1991.
These are now on all my electric guitars
Lately, I have been experimenting with strings. Everything from brand, coated/uncoated, gauge. I have quite a few electric gutars and play them all regularly. For me, coated works best, so I can spend more time playing instead of changing strings all the time. In my opinion, these are the very best. They have great tone, but more importantly, they have the best feel.
This string last long than I think!
I puted this string on my FR guitar and it never breaks no matter how hard I pull the bar, and it always sound awesome!
Great strings!!!
I normally dislike coated strings for their feel (Elixir, Cleartone) but these do not feel like they have anything added to them. They do sound a bit brighter then normal XL strings but that is easily remedied by adjusting the tone control on your guitar or amp. They are reinforced I would assume in the same manner that Ernie Ball RPS strings are made. Although I never break strings as I am not a heavy handed player it is nicer to have that feature than not. I have these 10-46 on a Les Paul 1/2 step down and they feel and sound great! I would get these again without hesitation.
Couldn't believe how great these sound!
I have used D'Addario strings since the 70s and won't consider any other brand. I saw an ad for the new XT series and thought what the heck. I broke a string last night and changed from NYXLs to the new XTs. I was shocked, I mean really shocked at how much better my guitar sounded. It was like I had a new guitar. These strings have added a sparkle to my sound that I didn't know was in there. The feel is great also. I love the feel of the coating. Great strings and I'm never looking back at the NYXLs.
