Achieve Better Tone and Tuning with XT Treated Bass Strings

D’Addario’s XT strings are among the longest-lasting bass strings we at Sweetwater have tested, thanks to their thin, durable coating. And we do mean thin — you won’t even know it’s there. XT bass strings employ D’Addario’s proprietary high-carbon steel core and fusion twist technology, ensuring that they play easier and stay in tune better, even under the heat of a live performance. XT bass strings boast nickel-plated windings with enhanced magnetic properties for increased output and enhanced dynamic range. Whether you play rock or soul, you’ll appreciate the clarity, warmth, and balance you get out of D’Addario’s XT bass guitar strings.

Thin, durable coating protects every string

XT bass strings feature D’Addario’s thinnest and most durable coating yet. This nearly imperceptible coating protects every string from corrosion while maintaining the natural feel and tone of their popular NYXL series. D’Addario is the only string company who draws wire, coats it, then winds it — other companies apply the coating after the strings are made. If you’re dissatisfied with most coated bass guitar strings, give D’Addario XT bass strings an audition. You’ll be impressed.

D’Addario XTB45105 Bass Guitar Strings Features:

  • 4-string set; .045, .065, .085, .105
  • Thin, durable coating protects every string
  • Balanced clarity and warmth
  • High-carbon steel core yields unrivaled strength and elasticity

Great Strings!
I've been using slightly brighter strings for a few years now, but for a band I just joined I wanted to try nickel again. These were on sale in a promo so being that the timing was good I grabbed a couple of sets of these. I put a set on my jazz bass with Seymour Duncan Apollo pickups and wow! These things sound great. Incredibly versatile, they can get bright if you want that, dark and fat if you want that, and all points in between. I'm going to use these for awhile. Give them a try if you are checking out strings. D'Addario does it again!

No compromise, just enhancement
I love NYXL bass strings for the extra powerful, punchy attack they provide thanks to those cores, but I typically don't want want the extra high, sibilant frequencies associated with them on bass. (Great sound for metal, but not my go-to style. Love them on guitar!) The more warm, yet still powerful sound of the XTs is right up my alley! The coating is borderline unnoticeable and my first set has held up really well over the past few months - as if they were only put on my bass a week ago!
