Thinly Coated for Durable Tone

D'Addario XS Nickel-plated strings bring the company's cutting-edge XS-coated formula to the electric guitar for the first time. These strings yield iconic D'Addario tone, but with a longer lifespan that ages gracefully. The ultra-thin XS coating not only preserves tone and longevity, but it also addresses common guitar player gripes about coated strings with their reduced string noise, lightning-fast playability, and superior resistance to fraying. Players at Sweetwater agree: if you're looking for coated guitar strings that sound great and give you longer hours of playtime, D'Addario XS Nickel-plated Steels are a clear winner.

NY steel core with Fusion Twist steels

Inside each XS nickel string is a NY Steel core — the same as you'll find on a set of your favorite NYXLs or XTs electric guitar strings. This angular core gives the wrap wire more surface to grab on to, resulting in better tone and intonation. Plus, XS strings also feature D'Addario's Fusion Twist technology, a process that prevents slack in each string’s winding, ensuring it stays in tune better and lasts longer.

Engineered for graceful aging

D'Addario XS sets aren't your ordinary coated guitar strings. Both the wound strings and plain steels feature groundbreaking thin film coatings. This eliminates that awkward stage common to other coated strings where your bottom strings far outlast your top strings.

D’Addario XS Electric Nickel-plated Steel Guitar Strings Features:

  • Ultra-thin film coating extends string life between changes
  • Smooth, sleek feel on the fingers
  • Long-lasting great tone with rich harmonics, clarity, and definition
  • Fusion Twist technology enhances tuning stability
  • NY Steel hex core delivers superior intonation and stability
  • Digitally controlled winding ensures consistency from set to set

Reviews

been using for about 7mos now....still the best strings
I use these strings exclusively on all my LPs, you don't notice they're coated. I don't know how long they last I end up changing them like once a month I would guess maybe longer if I don't play that particular guitar. Still in near perfect tuning sitting in the case for ages. I have not noticed any wearing on the coating, no sawn underside on the frets, no peeling or flaking. Playability, tone, longevity, D'Addario XS 9.5s good as good gets!
Have to be the best strings I have ever used
I became sensitive allergic to Nickel so I had to go to coated strings. Having tried everything I thought I had settled on StringJoys coated 9.5 set. I saw D'Addario 9.5s and how they were made and I thought why not, they have always been a peerless string maker. Something about that odd 9.5 thing I just love it, this set just feels amazing under the fingers, loose enough for any bending and play just as uncoated would with the added benefit of a slight slickness but they feel great and comfortable to play. Hard to explain as most strings just seem the same but there is something different to these XS coated 9.5s!
These may be the best strings I've ever played.
I'm only on day one with these strings but I think they might be the best feeling and sounding set I've ever played. I have tried literally every brand, gauge, material, coated to find my string set that works for me and I think D'addario really hit it off with the 9.5 Xs. Hope to get more soon!
