Instantly Expand Your Guitar's Range

Compact and stage-ready, the BOSS XS-1 Poly Shifter lets your guitar do the work of three. With a single press, the XS-1 allows you to change tuning, conjure shimmering textures, or add wild, octave-bending layers to your solos. With its intuitive layout and straightforward design, the XS-1 puts creativity at your fingertips, featuring controls to blend your signal and a range that spans up to 3-octave shifts in either direction. Whether you need to drop tune for one song or want to add an octave to your arpeggios, the XS-1 provides a crisp, clean signal thanks to its proprietary Adaptive Focus method technology and 24-bit converters. Many Sweetwater guitarists stomp on the XS-1 when one guitar isn’t enough, and with its seven semitones and 3-octave range, your sound is sure to soar.

Endless tonal possibilities

A simple layout makes the XS-1 an excellent choice for any player. The Balance knob lets you blend dry and effected signals. At the same time, the Toggle/Momentary switch gives you sustained or temporary shifts, and the rotary Shift knob lets you dial in semitone steps and octave jumps with ease. You can even choose your desired shift direction with the Detune switch, allowing you to send your pitch up or down. Plugging in an expression pedal unlocks even more control, allowing for sweeping, hands-free pitch bends for maximum tonal drama.

High fidelity conversion

Behind the scenes, the XS-1 relies on 24-bit converters with Roland and BOSS’s proprietary Adaptive Focus method (AF). This cutting-edge tech vastly improves the signal-to-noise ratio, delivering a cleaner tone and more detail in every note. The result is high-fidelity pitch shifting that sounds natural whether you’re detuning for a heavier riff or soaring into octave-stacked leads.

BOSS XS-1 Features:

  • Polyphonic pitch-shifting pedal for momentary or sustained tone shifting
  • Balance knob blends dry and effected signals
  • Rotary Shift knob with 7 semitone steps, plus 1, 2, and 3 octave jumps
  • Detune shift direction switch for upward or downward movement
  • Expression pedal input for real-time pitch control
  • 24-bit AF method conversion reduces noise and preserves tone fidelity

Reviews

Very Good
At first I was very dismayed with this pedal over latency and artifacts, however I later found that it was not the pedals fault. My rig was a Tonex in the loop of an hx stomp which already has it's own latency and this was compounding the small latency of this pedal. I later tried it my fractal FM3 in front and it performed MUCH better. The latency is still there, but it is acceptable and probably an improvement over my digitech drop and definitely an improvement over the the fractal poly capo as far as fell goes. I would imagine this pedal would perform yet better with a real amplifier. I think this pedal is as good as it can get, within the framework of current technology and still remain affordable.

Great pedal!
The technology in this pedal is definitely better than the digitech drop pedal in my opinion. Since the Digitech drop is now 12 years old, I knew this pedal had to be at least a little bit better and it is. It definitely preserves more of your sound and latency is very minimal. Go get one!
Amazing
Used this puppy at a show over the weekend, and it performed flawlessly. I was slightly concerned the sound quality would be affected, but that's not the case. If you're in the market for a pitch-shift pedal, consider this one.

Excellent Pedal !!!
In my opinion this pedal is really good, it has many options for tune and the Harmonics ranges
Poly Shifter XS-1 is a great pedal

My band tried out several different pedals for the 2 guitars and bass. The 2 pedals we found that work great are the Boss Poly Shifter XS-1 and the Digitech Drop. Our bass player is using the Drop and guitars are using the Poly Shifter. With the Poly Shifter you can also sort of simulate a 12 string by pitch shifting up an octave and blending the original and the shifted up. This works great for guitars. On both pedals you can drop by 1/2 step, whole step or more and it still sounds like a real guitar and there is such insignificant latency it is not an issue. We have used both pedals at several gigs in the 2 weeks that we have had them and it has been great. No more switching back and forth from guitars tuned to standard and tuned down. If you get either of these pedals it works best to have it as the first pedal and then everything else after it. The Poly Shifter XS-1 is a great option for what we needed.
