Powerful DSP Puts AmpliTube Distortion on Your Pedalboard

With powerful onboard DSP, the IK Multimedia X-Drive distortion pedal puts 16 player-favorite overdrive and distortion effects from IK’s acclaimed AmpliTube software on your pedalboard. X-Drive boasts extremely high-quality hardware with 24-bit/192kHz conversion, a 5Hz–24kHz frequency response, 123dB of dynamic range, and a pure analog dry path with switchable true/soft bypass. Dial in ultra-realistic emulations of classic overdrive and distortion pedals, covering everything from harmonically rich saturation all the way to high-gain metal tones. Send your tone directly to your amp rig, or tap into five onboard speaker cabinet emulations to finalize your sound. And with the ability to store up to 300 user presets, the IK Multimedia X-Drive is ready to be your go-to overdrive and distortion pedal.

Loaded with state-of-the-art AmpliTube DSP

Like all of IK Multimedia’s X-Gear stompboxes, X-Drive packs the company’s acclaimed AmpliTube processing into a cutting-edge, pedalboard-ready enclosure. X-Drive offers 16 hyperrealistic emulations of real-world modulation devices, putting an array of tried-and-true overdrive and distortion effects conveniently at your feet.

Top-of-the-line hardware with audiophile-grade specs

IK Multimedia went all in with regard to the quality of X-Drive’s hardware. The stompbox’s audiophile-grade components include ultra-low-noise, 24-bit/192kHz conversion for leading-edge sound, plus a 5Hz–24kHz frequency response — more than enough to capture your guitar’s full sonic range. You also get an impressive 123dB of dynamic range, ensuring that every nuance of your playing is reproduced, from whisper quiet to maximum overdrive. Guitarists here at Sweetwater agree: the X-Drive pedal treats your core guitar tone with integrity as you tap into some of the most realistic overdrive and distortion emulations around.

Seamless integration with AmpliTube software

The X-Drive pedal comes with a matching X-Drive plug-in for Mac and PC, and you can even open X-Drive as a stomp module directly in AmpliTube software (a copy of AmpliTube 5 SE is included). Thanks to this comprehensive hardware-software integration, you’ll be able to tweak your X-Drive pedal’s parameters using AmpliTube’s award-winning workflow, then save them as one of up to 300 presets that you can recall directly from the pedal.

Reviews

Really intuitive and useful
As a player running keys and guitar for multiple setlists and 3-4 gigs a week, I have come to rely on MIDI controlled pedals. I have a MIDI controller (Morningstar MC8) and an H9 and my Fantom06 keyboard and even light cues. Lol I think this pedal had the easiest learning curve by a long shot. You can set the names to show the PC numbers for easy recall. The sounds are fantastic (some seem way less useful than others, but that's probably just me). If you've used the Amplitube software, it's likely very similar or the same algorithms. I like the compressors and noise gate a lot, and even replaced my compressor with a "Boost" patch I set to not boost volume but just compress the guitar.

Don't know how this would work if you didn't have a controller, but the banks switch pretty quickly and you could easily set up a few favorites for quick recall. Can't speak to that.

A lot to like
There's a ton of flexibility in this pedal. Most, if not all, of the greatest distortion pedals are represented. I wasn't looking for a pile of classic pedals in one box (any modeler can do that) but the real value in this one is the enormous variety of quality distortion tones available. The other features like MIDI, cab sim, headphone out, USB, etc. make it a really versatile device and well worth the price.
X-Drive
At first I wasn't blown away. I went through the presets (just like any other multi-effect) and most are great, but I wasn't just feeling it. Then I started tweaking, and oh my! I created presets for a Blackface on edge of breakup, Marshall with a cocked wah tone, a mid-gain monster, supreme cleans, you name it. I have taken ALL of the gain pedals off my board. All of them. My ONLY complaint is that there is no effects loop, but I use very little modulation any way, and it sounds just fine running in series. I HIGHLY recommend tis pedal, and that is coming from a die-hard analog pedal junkie.
