I have a few guitars with this pickup in it. I mostly play it through a 5150 3 amp and a yamaha thr. What makes this a favorite of mine is when you give her full throttle it has plenty of balls while still sounding focused if that makes sense. If you roll the volume back on the guitar it has a very articulate clean without changing the channel on the amp. It does this better than any other pickup I've tried. If you buy it and love this about it I recommend trying a treble bleed mod on your volume pot for the rolled back cleans although it doesn't absolutely need it. If you like playing with a classic rock, hair metal, or metal tone and also like getting your cleans from simply rolling back the volume this is your pickup. And yeah I think it's still worth the higher price tag.

The title, really says it. These are the best, over-all, sounding humbucker pick-ups I've ever heard.
What do I mean by, "best"? OK - the first time I played my new EVH Wolfgang, after about 45 seconds - I had to stop, put the guitar back down onto its stand - and stare at it. That's it - I just started at it - probably, slack-jawed. After several seconds, I had to go and get somebody - anybody. With no one else around, I made phone calls.....
My thoughts?: "This isn't a guitar; it's a beast; a living thing!" (No, not literally)

These come in the WG Special. This is a ridiculous pickup. First pickup I've ever played that actually sounds how it is described. Responds well to pick attack. Hot but not too hot. Cleans up perfect when you roll back the volume. Thanks Ed.
The man knows guitars.

This is with out and doubt one of the best pickups i have ever heard. Clear yet so rich in tone. I put this in a 1979 modded scalloped fretted stratocaster and it just made the guitar sing. Thru a tube amp its got so much Character and then into the Mesa..Buy this and you will not be disappointed. I would love to see this in a Les Paul and I just might be buying a few of these as they are so great and worth the $ priceless e tag. Theres a Good reason a s why Eddie is one of the best ever..! I liked this so much since I got it on my USA Stealth, I got 2 bridge versions more and installed them on my other humbucker guitars: a CS Stratocaster Pro and a Charvel EVH Art Series.

The lower output makes for better interaction with my amps and with effects. I believe this same fact makes for smoother feedback and more sustain.
