Clearly, Beetronics FX founder CEO Filipe Pampuri didn’t get the memo when he chose to launch his company with the Whoctahell — a combination fuzz/overdrive/dual-octave pedal that declared right out of the gate that Beetronics FX was no run-of-the-mill pedal builder. The reimagined Whoctahell Low Octave Beest re-creates Filipe’s first official Beetronics creation in a smaller and more pedalboard-friendly package. Navigating the Whoctahell’s panoply of wild fuzz and distortion textures is a breeze thanks to the straightforward control scheme, consisting of a single knob to dial in your preferred level of dirt from rich distortion to a crushing wall of fuzz. Two additional knobs provide access to the Whoctahell’s dual low-octave effects, morphing and mangling your signal into smoldering synth-like madness. The Whoctahell marked Beetronics FX’s grand entrance into the stompbox sphere, and it’s a perfect encapsulation of Felipe’s imaginative approach to pedal building, boundless creativity, and (clearly a herald of things to come) perennial penchant for wordplay.
