On-camera Microphone Adapter with Power Converter

The Rode VXLR Pro lets you connect an on-camera microphone to a device with an XLR input. This low-profile adapter features a male XLR connector for plugging into a mixer or interface. Internally, it has a transformer to balance the signal for long cable runs. There’s also a built-in power converter that reduces 12–48-volt phantom power to 4-volt plug-in power by the time it reaches the 3.5mm TRS female connector. Sweetwater is pleased to report that the VXLR Pro also comes with a locking connector to prevent users from accidentally unplugging a cable.

Rode VXLR Pro 3.5mm to XLR Adapter Features

  • Allows users to use on-camera microphones with outboard gears
  • Power converter steps 12–48-volt XLR-supplied phantom power down to 4-volt plug-in power
  • Internal transformer balances the output signal for long cable runs
  • Threaded locking connector prevents accidental signal loss

Just what I needed
I bought a lavalier type mic for my Native American flute but I didn't want the wireless setup. Instead my design was to use an XLR cable and run into the board for 48v phantom power. So I did some research and found this little goodie. Of course the RODE quality build is excellent. Looks like it's road worthy, durable, great looking and had worked exactly as I had hoped. The only thing I don't like is the plastic clip. That is the only think I would change. Otherwise, it's perfect.

Rode VXLR
I'm a filmmaker and the rode XLR is a needed product for the Sony FX6. I searched the internet for it and found Sweetwater. They had the product in stock and were able to ship it quickly. Amazon had it as well but the delivery time was 10 days out. I am so impressed with Sweetwater's customer service and follow up. This is the blueprint for how companies should treat their customers. I'm so thankful I found Sweetwater. The product works great as well!

Thank you, Jeremy, for the follow-up calls and the emails! I truly appreciate it!
Works exactly how you would think
Great tool. Something you don't think about needing until you actually need it.
Solid product, great service from my Sweetwater rep!
This is a simple product that solves a problem: powering a lavalier mic from the 48v supplied by a mixer or interface through an XLR, and transformer-balancing the signal for longer XLR-XLR runs. It's a solidly built that does the job.

The unit arrived broken, passing signal only with the microphone plug pulled half way out.

My Sweetwater rep Erik Bothwell went into action immediately. The next day, I had a replacement unit in hand. Thank you Erik and Sweetwater!

TSR Adapter Essential Gear
As recommended by a Sweetwater support person, that adapter that accommodates a TRS plug enables lapel mikes to receive the voltage from the amplifier. The mike then works exceptionally good.
