A Modestly Priced, Reference-level Nearfield

KRK worked with hundreds of engineers and producers to get the response right for its V8 Series 4 monitors. The key ingredients were a ported cast-aluminum/MDF enclosure and a complement of custom Kevlar drivers: an 8" woven woofer and 1" dome tweeter that are, together, flat from 35Hz to 19Khz ±3dB). This full, flat response makes KRK V8 Series 4s a serious budget option for mixing, mastering, and all demanding listening applications.

KRK V8 Series 4 monitors: not just a pretty face

Under the hood, KRK's dual Class D amplifiers deliver 230 watts to the drivers for an impressive 118dB SPL. Its 14 user-selectable EQ settings allow you to overcome shortcomings in your listening environment. Other features that impressed us at Sweetwater include a friction-lock Neutrik connector for XLR or TRS cables, a universal threaded mounting bracket, a precise 7-way attenuation switch for level matching, and an EVA foam pad for acoustic isolation.

KRK V8

I used these to mix a rock record in L.A. years ago and never forgot how good they were. Now I do Pop music and get the same result: If your mix sounds good on these, your mix IS good. Bass port on the front where it belongs, fast transients and beautiful imaging. Another reviewer made a great point about the non-fatiguing high end. Can't touch this quality for the money.

None Bettter At This Price

I've been using these monitors for almost two years now and as they've broken in they've just gotten more and more amazing. The bass response is great and the high's and mids are well defined and crystal clear. I have two other sets of monitors but I always end up using these. At this point I'm planning on selling the other monitors because they never get used anymore. I've been a working musician since the seventies and have been mixing since the eighties. You absolutely cannot go wrong with these monitors.

Amazing!!!

KRK absolutely nailed it with the V8 S4 (claps). They are huge and they sound huge. Mixing on them is fun and non fatiguing. The mid-range detail is surprisingly revealing. Mixes translate well with these on other monitoring systems. So so glad i got them.

These are some very nice sounding monitors.

I purchased these monitors when one of my JBL 4328 monitors stop working after a thunderstorm. I thought that I would not be able to have it repaired so I purchased the KRK V8 series 4 (later I found a place that is able to repair the JBLs). I also have a pair of Event Studio Precision monitors that I hadn't used since I purchased the JBLs (I am planning on selling them) and I forgot how nice those monitors sound too, so I A/B'd the two monitors and the first thing that was very apparent was how much more tighter the bass is on the KRKs compared to the Event monitors and how low they go, down to 35hz. The Bass is so amazing on the KRKs that I'm selling my KRK 10s sub tomorrow, I don't need it. The bass is not overly hyped at all, the mids are nice and smooth and the highs are also pleasing and not harsh. The KRK V8's stereo field is very precise and clear, it is a big step up from what I've had. I'm able to hear more detail in songs that I playback. It's funny I was listening to some songs from the late 80's/early 90's and they sounded so much more narrower than the songs nowadays, I've never noticed that to this extent until I got these monitors. Another thing that I notice is that my ears has not gotten fatigued while listening to these monitors. I spent several hours mixing with them and it was a pleasing experience.
