The Apocalypse Is Nigh

The Schecter V-1 Apocalypse is packed with aggressive styling and a familiar classic shape. Even before you plug it in, you'll experience a resonant natural tone, thanks to the V-1 Apocalypse's swamp ash body. But when you do crank up your amp, prepare yourself for explosive, harmonic-laden tones, by way of this axe's dual Apocalypse VI humbuckers. Playing this guitar is effortless, courtesy of a smooth, compound-radius ebony fingerboard, while a TonePros string-through-body bridge and Schecter locking tuners offer killer sustain and rock-solid intonation. Eye-catching satin black hardware completes the package. Bring on the Apocalypse.

Performance-based construction

When you pick up a Schecter V-1 Apocalypse guitar, you'll be amazed by all the details and finishing touches that make up this exceptional instrument. Guitarists at Sweetwater agree that its Thin "C" neck profile feels comfortable and fast, with just the right amount of wood between your hands and the strings. And the roman numeral inlays on its ebony fretboard add a special touch of aggression — the countdown has begun! What's more, its Ultra-access neck carve allows easier access to those higher, hard-to-reach frets.

Aggressive, detailed tone

You'll find nothing but sonic intensity from the Apocalypse VI humbuckers onboard the V-1 Apocalypse. Alnico magnets deliver a fast, aggressive sound with plenty of richness. The Alnicos are flanked by ceramic magnets for top-end presence and articulation. You'll have an explosive tone with plenty of harmonic content, giving you lots of sound-shaping potential when you tweak the tone knobs on your amplifier and pedals. It includes plenty of tonal control, by way of two volume knobs, a master tone, and a 3-way pickup selector. You also get a push-pull pot for coil-split single-coil tones.

The Apocalypse Series — extreme metal performance

Schecter's Apocalypse Series boasts extreme metal performance with an aesthetic to match. Face-melting Apocalypse humbuckers deliver the output and articulation you demand. The fast-playing ebony fingerboards on these axes include compound radii and stainless-steel frets. You also get lightweight yet potently resonant swamp ash bodies and eye-popping finishes that are tailor-made for abusive stage antics. TonePros string-through-body or Floyd Rose 1500 bridges and Schecter locking tuners supply rock-solid tuning. Complete with attractive satin black appointments, these guitars are top-drawer all the way.

My apocalypse is near, I can feel the end... coming here

Arch Enemy!

So... What to say. Welp, for starters... I did a lot of research before making the decision on going with Schecter for my first ever V body shaped style guitar. A decision that has paid off EXPONENTIALLY. I made a vid covering an Annihilator song (Jeff Waters is THE HUGE reason I went with a red V) and everyone loved the sound and also the finish on the body. Thanks to Steven Cromwell (first review) for helping me make the decision as well as YouTuber "Truck Driver Shawn" for appealing demos that made me feel that the Apocalypse V-1 Red Reign was not only a safe bet BUT also the way to go. There were other options (even actual Jeff Waters Sig models on Reverb) and Yet, JUST CAN'T BEAT SWEETWATER... I went with the financing, built in warranty, and the legacy of my friendship with my Sales Engineer. It came out of the box ready to go!

It has a FAST neck! I've played on Vs before but not for quite awhile and yet it "felt right" especially standing up... Sitting down is another Story But, I'll learn in time a comfortable position.

BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS: The stock pickups are some of THE Best pickups (I'm a passive pickup supporter) I've had on any axe, they are RIGHT THERE with my Railhammer Anvil Bridge/Chisel neck setup on my othder top fast necked, high output metal axe in my lineup.

The CLARITY! Had my friend over who is a gifted shredder and he put it through paces. TIGHT and SNAPPY attack on 1/32 note gallops, not to mention being able to hear the voicing of ALL the notes in the chords played. Fretwork is amazing and passes the "sock test" (shout-out to Phillip McKnight)

Also, the knobs for tuning and volume are killer, feel/look good.

The only Con I have is walking around with the guitar. Make sure you rotate the neck to vertical while you're walking through doorways OR you risk banging up your V tips...
THANKFULLY, there's a pretty thick high glossy finish on the cap of the body that can manage protecting the Smoldering finish on one of the GREATEST, overall guitars out there, especially for metal heads.... But it'll tear it up on anything else you want to throw at it that has it's roots in Classical or Blues.

Major Thanks goes to my Sales Engineer.
If YOU want YOUR Sweetwater dreams to come true then you dial extension 1390.

Team Wiltermood/WilterDude FTW... 10+ years and going strong.

Also Shout-Out to Team Schecter! This is an all in one package/dream guitar and the first Schecter in my collection... Everything has exceeded my expectations. This purchase has opened up the floodgates for future Schecter acquisitions (Rob Scallon Signature 7, I see you).

And to the Sweetwater Techs that run the 55 point test and the Shipping Crew! Thank you for ALWAYS doing what you do to ensure that I have the best experience once #NewGearDay comes to my doors!

It's a metal beast

I can't think of anything wrong about this guitar. It plays so nicely. It came from Sweetwater perfectly intonated and it's stayed that way.

Best guitar I've ever owned

It is hard for me to believe that this review is the first review for this guitar. To me that indicates that this model doesn't sell too well, and the inventory available would back up this assumption. Maybe it is because a V style guitar is not for everyone. I personally have always loved the look. Maybe it is because the pictures do not do it justice. This guitar looks sooo much better in person. Believe me, the paint job is stunning in person. And the guitar sounds absolutely AWESOME!!! It felt and played perfect right out of the box, and now that I've owned it for a little over a week my opinion hasn't changed a bit. I guess I should list the negatives as well. There arn't any! I really can't find a single flaw in this guitar. Just like my main guitar a Schecter Hell Raiser that I've been playing for three years the quality is amazing. I really love Schecter guitars, especially the ones made in South Korea. It was one of the main reasons I bought this model. I could go on and on about all the things I love about this instrument, but I just finish by saying that this is the best electric guitar I've ever owned.
