The Return of a High-gain Bogner Classic

Boasting a whopping 100 watts of all-tube power and up to seven stages of cascading gain, the Uberschall Mk2 represents the pinnacle of Bogner’s world-renowned ultra-high-gain performance. This dual-channel amplifier head is packed to the brim with versatility, with each channel featuring three different modes to tailor your tone from pristine cleans to cutting crunch all the way to modern metal brutality. Moreover, high-gain fanatics will love how the incredibly heavy Channel 2 also sports a three-position voicing switch (Doom, Focused, and Bright) and a tightness-shaping Metamorph control, for serious sonic control over every aspect of your sound. The power amp offers its own robust set of sound-shaping controls — global Presence, Depth, and Density — and it’s all finished off with a 4-button footswitch that gives you hands-free access to the channel select, onboard Gain Boost, second master volume, and FX loop.

Superior sound-sculpting tools

Each channel of the Bogner Uberschall Mk2 comes equipped with its own 3-band EQ, but that’s only the beginning of this amp’s exceptional tone-shaping power. Both Channel 1 and Channel 2 feature three distinct modes, allowing you to set your preferred gain level, with the highest setting providing up to seven saturated stages of searing gain. In addition, Sweetwater guitarists appreciate how Channel 2’s 3-position Voice switch and tightness-shaping Metamorphic control grant you a nearly endless level of raw, crushing sounds to choose from. As if that wasn’t enough, the Uberschall Mk2’s power amp completes the package with global Presence, Depth, and Density knobs.

4-button footswitch control

Need to take hands-free control of your sound? The Bogner Uberschall Mk2 includes a 4-button footswitch that gives you supreme control with the stomp of a button. While it’s no surprise that this footswitch features a channel-select switch, it also gives you access to the amp’s Gain Boost (available on both channels) to slam the Uberschall’s front end. You can also access the amp's second master volume and the FX loop.

Bogner Uberschall Mk2 100-watt Tube Head Features:

  • 2-channel ultra-high-gain amplifier head boasting 100W of roaring Bogner might
  • All-tube design with 6 preamp tubes (up to 7 cascading gain stages) and 4 power tubes
  • Each channel sports 3-band EQ to shape your sound
  • Channel one features Clean, Crunch, and Uber modes, with a 2-position bright switch for enhanced articulation
  • Channel 2 includes 3 hard hitting high-gain modes, including Crunch, Uber, and Ultra
  • Metamorph control (tightness) and 3-position voicing switch (Doom, Focused, and Bright) also available on channel 2 for enhanced versatility
  • Gain boost can be accessed via footswitch to slam the front end of your amp
  • Footswitchable FX loop with always active send level control
  • Master Volume control can also be adjusted via footswitch
  • Exceptionally flexible power amplifier with global presence, depth, and density controls
  • Line-out for cab-free recording and performance
  • World-renowned Bogner construction, with the company’s iconic custom metal grille
  • Includes 4-button footswitch
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

I love it!
I feel like I have been trying to figure out what guitar tone I wanted for the entire three decades I have been playing. Sometimes I dont know what I want until I see it, or in this case, hear it. This amp has what I want my guitar tone to sound like. Finally!

My Sweetwater Sales Engineer Gage went above and beyond as he always does to ensure I was able to get one of these. He has always been very kind and helpful. I have really enjoyed the amp so far and I love how many different tones I can get out of it. I really appreciate Mr. Bogner for creating this amplifier, and I am sure he put in a lot of hard work to design it.

Thank you, Mr. Bogner, thank you, Gage, and thank you, Sweetwater!

Highest of Gain, Glossy Cleans
So, I won't bore you with the "most versatile amp" ever rant, because I probably felt that way on at least 6 of the 10 heads I own, lol. I will tell you this, coming from someone who owns EVH 5150IIs EL34, Diesel VHX, ENGL, JP2c, etc etc. It has THE highest gain possible. With the boost switch forget it, unusable amounts of gain. BUT, when you do spend time with it and dialing the sound you will have a very articulate amp, that has great voicing in several different stages. You can cover a lot of ground modeling various distorted amps given the tools on this here (Morph, density, etc). The cleans are chummy and sound excellent as well. I would put the amp up there with any high end brand on overall tone and quality. Two things you must consider. It is not a plug and play amp like a JCM800, etc! You will have to like noodling around. Sorta like a Mesa or JP-2C. Second, despite have 8 different cabs on my amp switcher racks, you must pair this with the Uber Cab! The blend of the Celestion Vintage 30 and G12T-75 Speakers is hands down the way to play this amp. I have all other cabs you can dream of, none sound close to the clarity and punch of the Uber cab. Interestingly, the Uber cab used with all my other heads is way too bright! I finally have a use for it and see why it was made. In all, a very cool amp to have and defiantly well made too. A must own for collectors of hard rock or metal style rock.

Just got one today! OMG!
I've been in love with my two early model Rev Blues for quite a few years. Once I found em, I knew immediately that was my sound. Being so happy with my old ones, I was really hesitant to get an Ultra. Out of curiosity, I went to Sweetwater today to try an open box demo. I was worried this new thing would somehow subtract from the amps I love. Boy was I wrong! It took me a few seconds to dial in my beloved Uberschall tone. Then I started to fiddle. The Ultra has an excellent clean channel-even on par with our favorite clean amps. The monster is unleashed when you get to channel 2. It has so many dials that actually sweep in a logical fashion (very unlike the original Ubers.) It just has so much versatility. There are a million ways to control the ridiculous amount of gain. It's my new favorite amp.
If you have an EL34 Uber, definitely go with the El34 Ultra. It's basically everything I love plus a whole lot more.

The Holy Grail
No other amplifier in my experience is as versatile or tweakable. You can loosen the bottom end, or make it as tight as you like. The 3 "Hair" presence settings completely change the character of the amp, so that you can make it fit into any genre - and all of it is usable!

Do I wish it had more channels? Sure, because it would reduce the number of settings I need to memorize. But this is a small gripe, hardly worth mentioning. It's also a very quiet amp. When it hisses, it means you might want to consider turning down the gain - of which it has more than you will ever need!

It's the Überschall that we've all been begging for. And no boost required! Just pure Bogner tone.

Reinhold Bogner is the King of tone.
Every knob, switch, option (and there are a BUNCH) makes a noticeable difference in tone and every tone along the way is amazing/inspiring.
Yes, it can be wildly aggressive, tight and articulate but it can easily be really warm, woody, thick and super articulate when you roll the gain back to about 50% and you can hear, clearly, every note of a chord as if you were running a compressor.
Every Bogner has a slightly hidden sweet spot that, to me, is the greatest guitar tone I've ever heard you just have to spend some quality time with all the options to dial it in. Don't get me wrong though, as you can plug in and within a couple minutes you have a massive tone.
2 (foot switchable) master volumes are really, really useful to bump up the volume when needed. The FX loop is freakish in that my pedals have never sounded more articulate.
There are a lot of videos out there going through all the options and they move through the switches pretty fast never really digging into what each really does but they really do, do a lot and you will find that each one was clearly thought out in great detail.
I prefer to go straight into an amp and I'm REALLY happy with this purchase as its SO many tones and useful options in one amp head.
