Classic Magnatone Stereo Vibrato, Tremolo and Reverb

For three-dimensional guitar tone, it's hard to beat the sound of true stereo vibrato and tremolo, and that's exactly what the Magnatone Twilight Stereo combo amplifier offers. It's based on the authentic Magnatone varistor vibrato circuit — often imitated but never yet duplicated. Driving a pair of custom 12-inch speakers with 22 watts of Class AB amplification each, this combo has a fast and detailed response that accepts pedals extremely well. With dual speaker outputs and line-level DI outputs, the Magnatone Twilight Stereo is a powerful foundation for any guitar rig.

Legendary Magnatone vibrato and tremolo

Designed in the late '50s, the varistor-based Magnatone vibrato circuit is widely accepted as one of the best-sounding vibrato and tremolo circuits ever made. Updated for maximum reliability, the LFO in this circuit is now more stable than ever and allows for a wider range of effects — from extremely slow modulation to very fast shimmer. You can switch between vibrato and tremolo modes, and can even control the modulation speed with an external expression pedal (sold separately).

True tube-driven spring reverb

For true '50s-'60s guitar tone you can't beat the sound of tube-driven spring reverb. The Magnatone Twilighter Stereo combo packs a four-spring reverb tank with counterwound springs. It's generally accepted that counterwound springs deliver a clearer sound with less resonance and "clang." Expect a classy and spacious sound from the Twilighter combo even at high reverb levels.

Custom 12" speakers with ceramic magnets

If there's one thing guitarists at Sweetwater love to see in a combo, it's custom speakers designed specifically for that amp. These custom 12" speakers with ceramic magnets have a fast, detailed sound with nicely balanced lows, mids, and highs. Clean tones sound very sweet, and they maintains their sonic balance with overdrive and distortion.

Reviews

Loud and Proud
I am a proud owner of this loud amp! Shout out to Mark Magdich at Sweetwater for facilitating my purchase. I saw Jason Isbell at Red Rocks using two of the on stage. His guitar sound was incredible and ever since, I have been wanting to get the same amp. If you're thinking about getting this amp, know that it is loud, even at low volumes and is pretty heavy to carry at 70 or so pounds. It's built like a brick s*** house! That said, it has the best tone I've ever heard in an amp that I've personally played through. I'll never regret buying it. It astounds me every time I use it. About the loudness... it has two inputs. One is more touch sensitive and loud. Input number two is less so on both counts. Input one has more dynamics. That is, if you pick harder, the louder it gets, if you pick soft, it's quieter. Although this is true with many good tube amps, the range between loud and soft is more so on this amp. If you can dial in your pick attack, it works wonders at not having to adjust your volume and have a dynamic sound (loud and soft). Input two is better at bedroom levels but still fairly loud. The cleans are sparkling and warm at the same time. Unless you can crank it, you'll need pedals for breakup. I'm currently using a Zendrive and Tumnus together and am very pleased with what I'm getting. It takes pedals better than any amp I've used. The stereo vibrato and tremolo are extremely satisfying. The tube driven reverb is the best I've ever heard in an amp. My next amp is going to be the Twilighter 1 x 12 for playing out. Thanks again Mark and Sweetwater. Consider me one of your happiest campers!
Stop staring at me
The 22+22 is a fantastic amp, hands down! The only thing that would be better is to have another 22+22 for the other side of the room.

Unbelievable Amp
I took a big chance buying one of these. I had never tried one, as there are no dealers anywhere in my State. I had only heard of them and watched some YouTube videos. It's a serious investment, so I was a little apprehensive, but once the amp arrived I knew I had spent good money.

First thing I noticed is the build quality and how it was shockingly light for it's size. I have another amp around the same size, it's 90LBS and sucks to drag around. This is probably around 55 to 60LBS, very reasonable for what it is. And what's that? An amazing amplifier. I plugged it in and plugged in my Gretsch White Falcon. The first chord gave me chills, it sounds better than any of my Fenders, Vox, or any of the Mesa's I've had. I was instantly hooked.

The rest are gathering dust as we speak. I may sell them all and buy the 1x12 Twilighter as well. This amp is now my ultimate weapon in sound and tone. I played with a metal band at my last gig, they had big Mesa stacks and afterwords they asked me what the amazing sounding amp I was playing is. When you have one of these, you don't need a stack of any kind. I put many different pedals in front of it. I use a REVV G3 to get high gain distortion and it sounds freaking amazing through this. No clunky tin can sounding tones here. No, sir. Just pristine sound. My gigs now are me and my Twilighter Stereo and it gets nothing but complements every time I bring it out.

When they say "Truly Dimensional Sound", they aren't kidding. At all. It is the best musical money I've ever spent. The price looks like a daunting number and it is for any bank account, but if you can scrimp and save, you won't regret it.

Come on. Buy one. Just do it. They're amazing on all levels.

Magnatone Twilighter
I have owned this amp now for several months now and am amazed everytime I play through this amp. The clean sound is pristine using an ES-335 and the amp is very sensitive to playing techniques. The amp responds well with effects, I am using a line 6 helix, and sounds great at all volumes. I was initially hesitant due to the price, but after taking the plunge and getting this amp it is well worth it. The build quality is superb, the attention to detail is awesome and it has a great vintage look. The staff at Magnatone are great, they answered all of my question even the president of the company emailed me several times. The list of artists that use Magnatone amps is impressive, check it out. This amp is the real deal.
