Six-voice Synthesis in a Polyphonic Powerhouse

With a nearly half-century lineage that begins with the legendary Prophet-5, Sequential has applied their hallmark expertise to bring their iconic sonics to an innovative 6-voice synthesizer: Trigon-6. Loaded with three discrete VCOs per voice, polyphonic performance is rich and distinctive, augmented by the newly reimagined take on the ladder filter originally created for the Pro 3. Versatile control of waveshape, lowpass filter, LFO, and envelope generator parameters allow for vast aural exploration, enhanced by a robust suite of destination and sync choices, as well as a powerful poly mod tools. Onboard FX, arpeggiator, and sequencer options broaden the scope of playback, enriched with numerous performance modes and a dynamic aftertouch. With 500 presets to explore and room for 500 more of your design, Sweetwater’s synthesists agree that the Trigon-6 is a welcome innovation on classic character.

Classic voicing, modern control

Built on the foundations of Sequential’s iconic 3-oscillator ladder filter sound, the Trigon-6 supplements the rich voicing with six voices of powerful polyphony. Blend distinctive sonics with simultaneously selectable waveforms on each of the three per-voice VCOs, with triangle, sawtooth, and reverse sawtooth options, refined and personalized through pulse-width modulation for each oscillator. Feedback and drive controls can be used to attune saturation with each oscillator, while hard sync connects VCOs one and two, and keyboard tracking can be toggled for VCO three. A supplementary white noise source and a toggle-capable keyboard pitch tracking broaden the scope of even further; a vintage knob lets you dial in the voice-to-voice variance of vintage synths, allowing you to sculpt a sound that’s equal parts personal and quintessential Sequential.

Superlative sonic shaping

Sequential spared no effort in ensuring comprehensive control of your Trigon-6 tones. A flexible lowpass filter can be quickly toggled between 2- and 4-pole modes, with discrete, resonant, lowpass, and ladder options available per voice. Bipolar envelope-amount values and be used in conjunction with velocity modulation, while you can send the filter into self-oscillation with the resonance controls. The 4-stage ADSR envelope generators can be velocity modulated for both amplifier and filter envelopes.

A menagerie of modulation

Craft alluring, reactive patches with the help of the Trigon’s formidable LFO that boasts five waveshapes, including a sample and hold-based random mode. Eight target destinations include frequency and pulse-width values for each oscillator, as well as filter cutoff and VCA figures. Chain this into the versatile Polymod, which sources bipolar values from your VCO three and filter envelope to a choice of seven destinations. A tight, spring-loaded pitch wheel hosts a selectable range between one and 12 semi-tones, coupled with a dynamic and voltaic aftertouch, capable of simultaneously selectable destinations, including both FX mixes.

Spatialized soundscapes and robust rhythms

Bolster your sound with the texturizing tools of Sequential’s formidable FX suite. Fully digital at 24-bit/48kHz, the A and B mixes include multiple delay and reverb options, as well as chorus, flanger, phase shifter, and ring modulation. Push the vintage-inspired circuitry to its harmonic edges with gritty, stereo analog distortion, or hit the true bypass to maintain a fully analog signal path. Utilize the 3-octave range of the versatile arpeggiator to elicit compelling playback, or ramp up the rhythm with the polyphonic 64-step sequencer. Stack or arrange your sonics across multiple voice modes, including a configurable-count unison, chord, or key. Plus, the polyphonic portamento is a striking supplement to the Trigon’s 6-voice scope.

Streamlined integration

Considering the plethora of inspiring opportunities afforded by the Trigon-6, Sequential made integration into any arrangement a breeze. An uncomplicated rear panel includes 1/4-inch audio outputs for left/mono, right, and headphones, delivering uncompromising audio from the studio to the stage. MIDI ports allow for dedicated control of in, out, and thru functions, while a USB-B port supports bidirectional MIDI communication. Footswitch ports are available for sustain and sequencer start/stop controls; expression pedal ports can accommodate filter cutoff and volume values. The Trigon-6 comes loaded with 500 factory presets, and an additional 500 are left blank for you to painlessly craft and recall your preferred patches. The streamlined, ergonomic interface includes vivid displays, backlit buttons, and a 10-bank program selection station, with 100 programs each.

His Last and Best, thank you Tom!
I have played a lot of Synths, I like this one a lot! Has some surprises and good quality and useful
Music background: Varied all types
Was blown away!
The last Synth in the legacy of Dave Smith does disappoint! The sound of it, has it's own distinct character, that's full of Lush and Deep textures!

It's get super warm and thick with ease, there's so much headroom for the sound as well! So you will have no problem getting the mixes to really pop!

You also can get really crazy and dirty with the sound if desired, the Effects are solid and compliment the sound extremely well, I feel they really nailed it on this one!

This Synth is way better than I expected, you really need to just try it yourself, this is easily one of Dave's best synths!

Thank you Dave and Sequential, for leaving us another classic, we truly appreciate your masterful work!!!

Excellent and unique
The Trigon combines Prophet oscillators with Moog style filters, and the result is something new instead of sounding exactly like either of those two synths. It's like the Away Team took a Prophet 5 and a MemoryMoog down to the surface of a planet for a jam session, but when Scotty tried to beam the equipment back on board, the transporters malfunctioned and garbled the two keyboards together. A happy accident that takes sound design (yeah, I'm gonna say it) to where no synth has gone before!

With three analog FSU parameters on board such as Distortion, Drive, and Feedback, the Trigon has plenty of options to explore the grittier side of synthesis. Every time I start tweaking knobs and hunting for new sounds, I wind up saving a bunch of new presets or sampling phrases that I think will be perfect if I'm ever asked to score a slasher movie. When Spock first head the Trigon, he said the only logical decision was to start a Skinny Puppy cover band.

I don't play smooth jazz noodles on the Trigon, though it can sort-of get close that stereotypical sound if you try. A Minimoog is what you really want if that's your bag. The Trigon speaks more to my heart that lives in old 1970s sci-fi and horror movies, and their suspenseful soundtracks that set the mood. Out of all Sequential's lineup of synths, the Trigon sounds the most "vintage" to me at its core. It's a little quirky, a little noisy, and very inspiring to explore. It's my favorite analog poly, and it's here to stay.

Dave Smith's best synthesizer!
I've owned many Sequential synths (rev2, Prophet 6, OB-6, Prophet 10 r4 and Trigon 6) and can say, without hyperbole, that Trigon-6 is Dave's best all round analog poly and a great parting gift to the synth world.

I prefer it to all of the mentioned above synths, but do also love the OB-6 has it has a special, unique sound that makes it a modern classic.

Prophet 6 always underwhelmed me, as a 4 pole machine it "should" sound warm, thick, rich and organic, instead if sounded kinda dull and generic, overly controlled and very hard or harsh sounding when pushed. I sold my Prophet 6 a while back and never regretted it.

Then I got the OB-6 and loved it, it had a proper analog VCO sound that jumped out of the speakers and was worth the money. Wrote loads of music with that (sold it and bought another and sold it but will rebuy another as I miss it).

Trigon 6 is at the top of the tree, even against the X8 and Prophet 10 imo as they lack a sub osc let alone a full 3rd osc like Trigon has, and tonally, I just prefer Trigon 6.

The Trigon-6 has a VERY detailed, rich and thick sound. EVEN with just two oscs enabled, it's not just a product of waveform stacking or 3 oscs, even with just one saw wave on one osc it sounds much richer and thicker than the Prophet 6 did in the same mode. Once you start using all the power on tap it sounds amazing. It can do gentle and detailed or massive and scary, but its sweet spot is in the middle ground, a forward and full but never brash sound that has detail and texture unlike any modern synth I've heard. It sounds like syrup when you want, in a good way, never clogged up or lumpy but thicker and deeper than the other Sequentials (inc the Prophet 10). It has an amazing range of sounds from the best basses you'll heard on a Sequential, to moog-like leads, to swimming dark pads, to exciting 2-pole pads that tickle the ear nicely (like OB-6 does but completely different tone). I find OB-6 and Trigon-6 very good partners, not much overlap and they do things differently in many ways, both are rammed with character and inspire you to make sound after sound (and song after song), completely different to the anonymous sounding Prophet 6 which is always just kinda 'there' doing nothing of any particular merit than just padding out songs.

I would reccomend Trigon 6 from the 3 to anyone who wants only one synth, an all rounder, a full fat work horse with 2 and 4 pole, 3 oscs (2 LFOS with 2 oscs still if you want) and a deep rich expensive sound. I'd suggest anyone who wants a genuine prophet sound just get the Rev 4 P5 or 10 and avoid the Prophet 6 unless you specifically need that feature set.
The Glorious Trigon-6
The Trigon-6 sounds like the synth that lives in your head.

Imagine what a synth should sound like.... That's the Trigon-6.
