Two sequencing modes inspire creativity
The way the Trigger Riot sequencer works is pure genius. There's a master tempo, and each of the 16 encoders controls a clock-divided gate pulse, with a range from 1-256, indicating the frequency with which the gate is triggered (1 being every pulse of the clock, and 256 being every 256 pulses). There are four encoders in each row and each column in the encoder grid. In Matrix mode, each encoder is added to the rest of the encoders both horizontally and vertically, whereas Independent mode treats each column and each row as individual channels, allowing you to access a total of 32 time division settings divided across eight outputs. Either way, it's easy to come up with intensely complex rhythms simply by tweaking a few knobs and listening to the cumulative effect.
Play with probability, timing, and more
Clock division is only the beginning of what the Trigger Riot can do. In fact, Tiptop Audio loaded this sequencer with several other advanced settings. Each step can have its own independent speed, and Clock Shift and Time Shift settings make it easy to add swing to your groove. By far the coolest unique feature to the Trigger Riot is its Probability function, which lets you add a random element to your rhythm by specifying how likely each clock division is to be triggered, adding an organic element to your patterns. As you can imagine, it's easy to create phenomenally complex rhythms this way. Lucky for you, there are 16 memory locations, so you can easily store your creations and come back to them later.
Comprehensive I/O for beefy rhythm rigs
In addition to master Reset and Clock I/O, which make it easy to integrate your Trigger Riot into a complex synth setup, the Trigger Riot includes enough individual gate outputs to power a traditional electronic percussion rig and then some. There's even DIN sync to support legacy Roland gear. A total of eight individual gates let you hook up a kick, clap, snare, hats, and more, with gates left over to control the step advance on a traditional sequencer, making the Trigger Riot an ideal master clock.
